Princess Kate’s secret Palace name revealed by ex-royal staffer
The Princess of Wales may be known as Catherine, however, her nearest and dearest call her by another name, former royal staffer claims.

The Princess of Wales may be known to the world as Princess Catherine; however, that is not the name she uses behind closed doors, a former royal staffer has claimed. Princess Catherine married Prince William in 2011 and is now one of the most popular members of the Royal Family.
However, the princess, who used Kate Middleton before 2011, came from a non-royal background, a subject which has been weighed on by royal watchers on various occasions through the years, regarding her more humble approach to various royal matters. Now, a former royal staffer has opened up about the secret code names royals use within Palace walls, and revealed Kate’s favourite moniker among her nearest and dearest. Grant Harrold, who served as the King and Queen’s butler, as well as for Prince William and Prince Harry, gave a rare glimpse into the royals’ lives.

Speaking on behalf of Smooth Spins Casino, he said about Catherine: “She was always known as Kate. William always called her Kate.
“This Catherine thing only began after the wedding. I think after their coronation, she will be Queen Catherine.
“But until then, it was always Kate behind the scenes.”
He added: “I used to call her Kate. I was one of the few who were allowed to use first names rather than titles.
“When I first met her, she introduced herself to me as Kate – and asked me to call her that.”
Meanwhile, Mr Harrold also revealed that the King and Queen use affectionate nicknames, calling each other sweetheart and darling.
The former royal butler then said that staff would usually have code names for each royal, with King Charles’s being “the Boss” just like his late mother, Quen Elizabeth.
Mr Harrold revealed: “When we were discussing practical things in staff areas, we had code names for them.
“We always called King Charles – who was Prince Charles at the time – ‘The Boss’, and it was the same for the late Queen.
“We referred to Camilla as ‘The Duchess’. However, when Princes William and Harry were around, we just referred to them by their first names. And it was the same with Kate.
“They also had operational names. The late Queen was famously known as ‘London Bridge’ – which came to light around her funeral – and Charles is known as ‘Menai Bridge’.”
