‘The Chase’ Viewers Stunned as ‘Cocky’ Contestant Throws Shade at Jenny Ryan After Shocking Blunder
A tense encounter between Chaser Jenny “The Vixen” Ryan and a confident contestant had ITV viewers glued to their screens during Tuesday evening’s episode of The Chase (May 13).
Host Bradley Walsh returned to guide four new hopefuls—Cammy, Sinclair, Ore, and Katherine—as they attempted to outsmart one of television’s sharpest quiz minds. While the team started strong, it was a rare blunder by Ryan and a cheeky comeback from one contestant that stole the entire show.
A Rare Slip-Up on American History
The episode began on a promising note. Katherine successfully navigated her round to add £3,000 to the prize pot, and Ore followed with a solid £5,000 performance, quickly bringing the total to £8,000.
Then came Sinclair, who earned £4,000 in his Cash Builder round before stepping up to face The Vixen. During their head-to-head battle, Ryan shocked everyone by missing a seemingly straightforward historical question.
Bradley Walsh asked: “How long after he delivered the speech known as Gettysburg Address did Abraham Lincoln die? A) 17 days, B) 17 weeks or C) 17 months.”
While the correct answer was 17 months, Ryan mistakenly selected 17 days. Visibly embarrassed by the mistake, she launched into a detailed, lengthy explanation justifying her choice.
Viewers React to The Vixen’s Over-Explanation
Fans on X (formerly Twitter) were quick to call out the Chaser for being unable to simply take the loss.

A caught-off-guard Ryan responded, “I don’t know what to say. He slipped through my fingers there. I’m annoyed about that, but you know what, I’m still going to beat them—especially after all that shenanigans.”

Heading into the Final Chase, the trio of Sinclair, Katherine, and Ore faced Ryan with £12,000 on the line. However, their momentum ran out. The team managed to set a target of just 10 steps—a hurdle Ryan caught effortlessly with a whopping one minute and 30 seconds remaining on the clock, proving that while Sinclair won the banter, The Vixen won the game.
