Bradley Walsh Runs Off The Chase Set After Shaun Wallace’s Answer Turns His Own Joke Against Him

Bradley Walsh has had plenty of moments when he has struggled to keep a straight face on The Chase, but one exchange with contestant Ryan and Chaser Shaun Wallace left him laughing so hard that he actually walked away from the podium.

The memorable moment unfolded as 24-year-old Ryan became the final contestant to take on the Dark Destroyer. Ryan had failed to build any money during his Cash Builder, but one of his answers soon became the source of an increasingly ridiculous debate with Bradley.

Ryan Gives an Answer Bradley Can’t Believe

Ryan was asked: “What animal was reportedly used to lay cables around Buckingham Palace for the broadcast of Charles and Diana’s wedding?”

His options were a mole, a ferret or a badger.

Ryan chose “ferret” — and Bradley immediately began imagining how such an operation might have looked.

The presenter jokingly acted out an animal emerging with the cable before questioning whether a ferret could possibly drag something so substantial through the ground.

Ryan stood by his choice, explaining that ferrets had been used for that kind of work.

Bradley continued arguing his case, suggesting that a string or “pull-through” would have been attached rather than the cable itself.

Then the correct answer appeared.

Ryan was right: it was a ferret.

Shaun Wallace Makes It Even Funnier

Bradley’s teasing might have ended there, but Shaun Wallace’s answer was revealed next.

The Chaser had selected “mole.”

That was enough to completely break Bradley.

After spending so much time questioning Ryan’s ferret answer, the host burst into laughter and ran away from his position on the set. Karen, one of Ryan’s teammates, was also seen wiping away tears as the studio descended into laughter.

Bradley then turned his attention to Shaun’s choice, pointing out the obvious problem he saw with sending a partially blind mole to perform the job.

The Laughter Didn’t Save Ryan

Despite getting the question right while Shaun got it wrong, Ryan was eventually caught during his head-to-head and eliminated from the game.

That left Armin, Sally and Karen to compete in the Final Chase with £17,000 in the prize fund.

The trio produced a strong target of 18 and began with their three-step advantage. For a while, it appeared they might have done enough to defeat Shaun.

But the Dark Destroyer recovered from his earlier mistake at exactly the right moment.

He caught the team with just one second remaining, bringing an extraordinarily close Final Chase to an end.

For Bradley, however, one of the episode’s most memorable moments had already happened — when Ryan’s unlikely-sounding answer turned out to be correct, only for the Chaser to make the mistake Bradley found even harder to believe.
