And Lineker admitted he nearly swore while live on air with Laura Woods, Gary Neville, Ian Wright and Duncan Ferguson.

But the ex-Tottenham and Barcelona striker is preparing for a momentous occasion away from the cameras.

Lineker told celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, during the latest episode of The Rest is Football on Netflix, one of his sons is preparing to welcome a bundle of joy into the world with their partner.

He said: “We’ve got something else in common, we’re both about to become grandparents for the first time. How exciting is that?”

Ramsay, 59, replied: “I am secretly petrified because until they can talk and communicate with you, you can’t do much. We’re not going to f***ing breastfeed, are we?”

Lineker was joined by his pal in a New York studio after deciding to head Stateside to present his show during the World Cup.

And he is in danger of a long-held record being broken during the summer extravaganza.

Harry Kane became England’s joint-most prolific marksman by bagging a brace in the Three Lions’ group stage opener against Croatia.

The Bayern Munich frontman will have the chance to move clear in the showdown with Panama on Saturday.

Lineker shares four sons – George, Harry, Tobias and Angus – with his first wife Michelle.

They filed for divorce in 2006 and he went on to marry model Danielle Bux.

But after seven years together, they announced they were going their separate ways.

Lineker’s second eldest son Harry tied the knot during a lavish ceremony in Ibiza 12 months ago.

And the popular presenter reunited with brother Wayne following a long feud.
