“What’s the Matter With You?” Bradley Walsh Tells Shaun Wallace to Get on With The Chase After Singing Outburst

Shaun Wallace left Bradley Walsh visibly unimpressed during Thursday’s episode of The Chase after The Dark Destroyer suddenly broke into song before facing contestant Victoria.

The Chaser was in a playful mood as he took his seat and greeted Victoria with a reference to Bon Jovi, telling her: “Hello Victoria, in the words of Bon Jovi, you’re halfway there.”

He then began singing “Livin’ on a Prayer” while pretending to hold an imaginary microphone.

Bradley, clearly bemused by the unexpected performance, looked towards the camera before questioning Shaun’s choice of prop.

“Why do you need a microphone?” he asked.

Shaun simply replied: “You’ve got to have a pretend microphone don’t you?”

Rather than leaving it there, Shaun launched into the chorus again, continuing to perform with his imaginary microphone.

Bradley was less than impressed.

“Good lord, what’s the matter with you?” the host joked.

He then urged Shaun to stop singing and get on with the competition.

“Can we get on with the game now? Let’s get some money on the table,” Bradley said.

The unexpected exchange quickly caught the attention of viewers watching at home, with several taking to Twitter to share their reactions to Shaun’s impromptu rendition.

Sally Price appeared to enjoy the performance, writing: “Beautiful singing Shaun, [it] has made my day. #TheChase.”

Another viewer, Zoe, said she was “absolutely screaming” at Shaun singing “Livin’ on a Prayer”.

William also joined in with a joke about Shaun’s imaginary microphone, quipping that he was right because “when singing rock you need a microphone.”

Away from Shaun’s singing, the contestants were focused on trying to build a substantial prize fund.

Ritchie, Connor, Emma and Victoria were all hoping to defeat The Dark Destroyer and make it through to the final.

Connor built £6,000 during his Cash Builder and was subsequently offered three options by Shaun: £1,000, £6,000 or £36,000.

He opted to play for £1,000—and the decision ultimately paid off, as he successfully made it through to the Final Chase alongside his female teammates.

Ritchie also put £6,000 on the table during his Cash Builder.

Shaun offered him the choice of playing for -£1,000, £6,000 or a much higher £47,000. Ritchie chose the middle option and managed to beat the Chaser, securing his place in the final.

Bradley praised the group after their successful individual rounds, telling them: “They are a super team in the eyes of the Chasers.”

The team falls short in the Final Chase

Victoria and Emma also made it through, bringing the prize fund to £12,000 before the team headed into the final stage of the competition.

The four contestants were eventually playing for £19,000.

Despite their earlier successes, however, they could not do enough to hold off Shaun.

The Dark Destroyer ultimately caught the team, leaving the contestants to go home empty-handed.

Following the defeat, Shaun reflected on the team’s performance and suggested that they may have struggled because they got in each other’s way.

“They are unlucky but maybe they just got into each other’s way,” he said.

He nevertheless singled out Ritchie for praise, adding: “But Ritchie, it was a very good performance.”

For a brief moment, Shaun Wallace’s unexpected Bon Jovi impression may have stolen the spotlight from the quiz itself—but by the end of the episode, The Dark Destroyer had the final word.

The Chase continues weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
