The Chase viewers were left reaching for the tissues after Bradley Walsh briefly put the quiz on hold for an unexpectedly touching moment involving contestant Ann and her husband.
The emotional exchange came during a repeat episode of the popular ITV quiz show, as four contestants — Rhys, Ann, Bethan and Darren — prepared to take on Chaser Darragh “The Menace” Ennis in the hope of winning a substantial cash prize.
But before the competition could properly get underway, Ann made a heartfelt request that immediately changed the mood in the studio.

Ann Makes a Heartfelt Request
While chatting with Bradley, Ann explained that her husband, John, had recently been diagnosed with dementia during the COVID-19 pandemic.
She then asked if she could take a moment to send a message to him and the people caring for him.
“Could I make a plug for my husband?” Ann asked.
Bradley responded warmly: “Plug away, darling.”
Ann then turned her attention to the camera.
“His name is John, he is in a care home and they’ll all be watching. Can you say hello to John and all the staff?”
Without hesitation, Bradley paused the proceedings and delivered a personal message directly to the camera.
“John, lots of love to you, mate,” he said, also sending his thanks and support to everyone caring for John.
He then added: “Thank you so, so much from myself and Ann. Lots of love.”
After giving the emotional moment the time it deserved, Bradley gently brought Ann back into the game by asking: “Now, are you ready to play?”

Viewers Were Left in Tears
The brief exchange struck a chord with viewers watching at home, with many taking to social media to share their reactions.
One viewer simply wrote: “Got something in my eye.”
Another posted: “Oh Ann! What a babe.”
Others admitted that the moment had left them genuinely emotional.
“I’m crying and I haven’t even burnt the dinner yet,” one viewer confessed.
Another added: “This is breaking my heart.”
It was a reminder that beneath the fast-paced questions, dramatic chase and big-money stakes, The Chase can occasionally produce deeply personal moments between its contestants and host.
Ann Helps Build a £20,000 Prize Pot
Once the emotional introduction was over, Ann returned her attention to the competition — and she had plenty to celebrate.
She managed to secure £6,000 during her round, putting her alongside Rhys, who also brought back £6,000.
Bethan contributed another £3,000, while Darren successfully made it through with £5,000.
Together, the four contestants had built a potential prize fund of £20,000 heading into the final chase.
The team therefore had plenty at stake as they faced Darragh “The Menace” Ennis.
The Menace Delivers a Brutal Finish
Despite the team’s strong performance, the final chase proved devastating.
The contestants managed to answer 16 questions correctly, giving themselves a fighting chance of securing the £20,000 prize.
But Darragh refused to give them any breathing room.
“The Menace” steadily closed the gap before catching the team with just 12 seconds remaining.
After all their hard work — and despite the impressive 16 correct answers — the team ultimately walked away empty-handed.
For Ann, however, the episode will likely be remembered for something far more meaningful than the final score.
Her simple request to send love to her husband gave Bradley Walsh the opportunity to step away from the quiz for a moment and offer a heartfelt message to John and the care-home staff looking after him.
It was a small gesture, but one that left The Chase viewers reaching for the tissues.
