‘The Chase’ Viewers Blast Contestant Over ‘Rude’ Behaviour Toward Teammate

A recent episode of ITV’s hit game show The Chase left viewers fuming on social media—not over a tense final showdown, but over a contestant’s questionable etiquette toward his fellow players.
The episode saw host Bradley Walsh welcome four new hopefuls: Paul from Glasgow, Denise from Hampshire, Louise from Nottingham, and Colin from Surrey. Facing them at the top of the board was Chaser Darragh Ennis, famously known as “The Menace.”
Things started on a high note. Paul kicked off the game by securing £4,000, and Denise followed suit by bringing back £6,000 to the team pot. However, the momentum quickly faded. Louise was caught by Ennis and eliminated, while Colin met a similar fate, cutting his run short before reaching the final round.

Yet it was Colin’s behavior off the podium that generated the biggest stir online.
Viewers were baffled when Colin repeatedly referred to his teammates in the third person while they were standing right next to him. When Bradley Walsh asked Colin for his advice on whether Denise should opt for the higher or lower offer, Colin ignored Denise entirely and spoke about her directly to Walsh: “I thought she progressed really well. And I think she’d be capable of bringing back the high offer.”
Fans quickly took to X (formerly Twitter) to express their annoyance, calling the exchange uncomfortable and unnecessarily dismissive.

-
“Why is Colin talking ‘about’ the contestant rather than ‘to’ them? Weird and a bit rude!” one viewer complained.
-
“That’s what I noticed. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone talk about a fellow contestant in third person,” another added.
-
“Seems very rude. Hope the others do the same to him,” a third commented.
Despite the backlash, a few viewers were distracted by Colin’s eye-catching, snazzy shirt—though it wasn’t enough to distract from his early exit.
Ultimately, Colin failed to qualify for the Final Chase. Left as a duo, Denise and Paul were easily caught by Darragh Ennis in the final round, bringing an abrupt end to an otherwise eventful episode.
