On Saturday, just one player was still in the running for the final question, Rebecca, but would she be brave enough to risk her guaranteed prize of £10,000 to scoop the show’s jackpot…
The show’s host Lee Mack said: ‘Rebecca because you have done so well and made it to our final question, you win £10,000. But now you face a dilemma, you can leave the show now and take the £10,000 or you can risk it all by attempting the 1% question’
Lee explained that Rebecca had already secured £10,000 by reaching the final stage.
However, she could surrender that money and attempt the 1% question. A correct answer would increase her winnings to £96,000.
Rebecca admitted she was torn.
She said that if another contestant had still been standing beside her, she might have been more tempted to continue. But £10,000 was simply too much money to casually put at risk.
There was another reason for her caution.
When playing along with the programme at home, Rebecca estimated she solved the final 1% question only around half the time.
She chose the money.
But Lee still allowed her to see the question she would have faced.

Lee went on to reveal that Rebecca’s instinct was correct and the correct answer was, in fact, May 1 – exactly 29 days earlier than her guess

The question concerned Noah and Evie, who discovered on their first date that they had both been born in May 2001.
Noah told Evie:
“If you add the two digits in the date together you get 11.”
Evie then replied:
“In that case I am exactly four weeks older than you.”
Contestants had to determine Evie’s date of birth.
Although Rebecca’s £10,000 was now safe, Lee asked what she would have answered had she decided to gamble.
Rebecca guessed May 30 — while immediately admitting she didn’t think it was right.
She wasn’t.
The Answer Was May 1
The correct answer was May 1.
The key was Noah’s clue that the two digits of his date added up to 11. The possible May dates fitting that clue lead to May 29, and exactly four weeks — 28 days — before May 29 is May 1.
That meant Rebecca’s hypothetical answer would have cost her the entire gamble.
Her decision to stop had effectively protected £10,000.
The realization visibly brought relief.
Lee congratulated her, telling Rebecca: “You did the right thing.”
Viewers also praised her decision, with several saying she had made the sensible call by refusing to put a guaranteed five-figure prize at risk.
