EDEN WAS JUST 20 WHEN ALL THREE OF HIS TEAMMATES WERE KNOCKED OUT ON THE CHASE — THEN, LEFT COMPLETELY ALONE, HE LOOKED AT DARRAGH ENNIS’ £75,000 OFFER AND MADE THE ONE DECISION THAT TURNED THE EPISODE INTO A RECORD-BREAKING NIGHT.

A 20-year-old The Chase contestant stunned Bradley Walsh and viewers by walking away with £75,000 after being forced to face the Final Chase completely alone.

Eden entered the competition alongside Gemma, Elizabeth and Sydney, but the team’s chances quickly began to collapse as Chaser Darragh “The Menace” Ennis eliminated all three of his teammates.

That left Eden as the only contestant standing — and facing a decision that could either rescue the entire game or send him home with nothing.

Rather than choosing a safer option during his head-to-head with Darragh, Eden accepted the Chaser’s huge £75,000 offer.

It was an enormous risk. If Darragh caught him, Eden would leave with nothing and there would be nobody left to play for the prize.

But the gamble worked.

Eden successfully escaped the Chaser and carried the full £75,000 into the Final Chase, where he would have to defend the money without any teammates beside him.

Despite being alone, Eden produced an impressive Final Chase performance.

The 20-year-old answered enough questions correctly to establish a target of 18, leaving Darragh with a difficult pursuit.

With £75,000 at stake, Eden could do little except watch as The Menace attempted to close the gap.

But Darragh failed to reach the target before time expired.

Eden had done it.

The Chase viewers ecstatic as contestant makes history with record-breaking solo win

As the victory became official, Bradley could barely contain his excitement, celebrating the extraordinary result with the young contestant.

The host highlighted both Eden’s age and the scale of his individual prize, describing it on the programme as the highest-ever single win in TV quiz-show history.

Eden walked away with the entire £75,000 himself.

The episode originally aired in 2021 before being repeated in April 2023, prompting another wave of reaction from viewers.

Fans praised Eden’s performance, with some describing him as a legend and others calling the instalment one of the best episodes of The Chase they had ever watched.

What began with three teammates being knocked out ultimately became one of the show’s most memorable solo performances — with a 20-year-old contestant taking the biggest offer, facing the Chaser alone and leaving with £75,000.
