The Chase Viewers React After Bradley Walsh’s Repeated Comments Leave 20-Year-Old Contestant Hiding Her Face
Bradley Walsh sparked an unexpected reaction from The Chase viewers after repeatedly commenting on a young contestant’s appearance during an episode of the ITV quiz show.
Phoebe, a 20-year-old history student from Warwickshire, was sitting with her teammates when Bradley suddenly interrupted another contestant’s Cash Builder to tell her that she looked like a “mermaid”.
The presenter complimented her long blonde hair before acknowledging himself that the remark had been rather random. Phoebe thanked him and tucked her hair behind her ear.
But Bradley wasn’t finished.
Later in the programme, while joking about band names, he referred to Phoebe as looking like a “queen”. The comment prompted the visibly embarrassed contestant to put her head in her hands.
Paul Sinha Steps In

Eventually, Chaser Paul Sinha joined the exchange.
The Sinnerman jokingly told Bradley that he was becoming “a bit worried” after hearing him describe Phoebe first as a mermaid and then as a queen, before making a joke about Hans Christian Andersen.
Bradley explained that his reference to “Queen” had come from the famous band, but then returned once again to Phoebe’s hair.
Paul quickly turned the situation into another joke, helping move the programme along.
The unusual exchange did not go unnoticed at home. Several viewers commented on Bradley’s behaviour online, with some describing the remarks as “creepy” and questioning why the host appeared so distracted by Phoebe.
Although the comments were made in a lighthearted setting and Paul treated the situation as a joke on screen, the repeated attention toward the contestant became one of the episode’s biggest talking points.
