BRADLEY WALSH LEFT STUNNED AS THE CHASE CONTESTANT PULLS OFF A LAST-MINUTE ESCAPE AGAINST JENNY RYAN

Bradley Walsh could barely contain his excitement when a contestant on The Chase pulled off a remarkable escape against Jenny Ryan, turning a tense quiz round into one of the show’s most memorable moments.
The dramatic scenes unfolded during an ITV episode originally broadcast in May 2022, when contestant Annie arrived with a deeply personal reason for wanting to win.
She hoped to replace the diamond engagement ring she had lost, making the possibility of taking home a cash prize particularly meaningful.
However, standing between Annie and her dream was Jenny Ryan, better known to viewers as The Vixen.
A £73,000 GAMBLE AND A NERVE-RACKING DECISION
Annie impressed Bradley by earning £8,000 during her Cash Builder round.
When she faced Jenny, she received three offers — minus £1,000, her original £8,000 or a tempting £73,000.
Rather than risk everything for the enormous sum, Annie chose to defend her £8,000.
Initially, she appeared to be making steady progress. However, the atmosphere quickly changed as Jenny began closing the gap.
With the Chaser closing in, Annie faced a question about a famous line from a film.
The choices were Clueless, Cruel Intentions and Never Been Kissed.
Annie admitted she did not know the answer and was forced to guess.
She selected Clueless.
To Bradley’s astonishment, her gamble paid off.
The presenter celebrated as Annie moved another step towards safety, praising her remarkable guess.
ONE FINAL QUESTION STANDS BETWEEN ANNIE AND SAFETY

Despite the lucky escape, Annie still needed another correct answer to secure her place in the Final Chase.
Her next question concerned the name of a gorilla at London Zoo.
This time, Annie found the correct answer and immediately threw her arms into the air in celebration.
Bradley was equally delighted, congratulating her on an outstanding performance.
Her victory in the head-to-head round meant she would join fellow contestant Mark in the final.
Together, they had accumulated £15,000.
A HEARTBREAKING FINISH WITH THREE SECONDS REMAINING

Earlier in the episode, Mark had successfully defended his £7,000 against Jenny.
Two other contestants, Izzie and James, were less fortunate.
Izzie was eliminated after choosing to play for £5,000, while James missed out despite initially being offered the chance to compete for £40,000.
That left Mark and Annie to face The Vixen in the final round.
The pair put up a determined fight, but the contest ended in heartbreak.
Jenny managed to catch them with just three seconds remaining, denying Annie the money she had hoped would replace her lost engagement ring.
Even Jenny admitted that the final had been difficult, acknowledging that she struggled to find her usual rhythm.
BRADLEY’S HEARTWARMING MESSAGE TO ANNIE

Although Annie left without the prize money, she had clearly made an impression on the presenter.
Bradley praised her personality and enthusiasm, thanking her for bringing such warmth and entertainment to the programme.
Her remarkable guess, dramatic escape and emotional reason for competing made the episode particularly memorable.
Four years later, Annie’s appearance remains a reminder that even when contestants beat the Chaser in their individual rounds, the final few seconds can change everything on The Chase.
