Bradley Walsh Left Speechless by “Ridiculous” Question on The Chase

Bradley Walsh was left staring around the studio in disbelief after a seemingly straightforward question on The Chase produced an answer he simply couldn’t understand.
The memorable moment came as contestants Karen, David, Rosie and Joe faced Jenny “The Vixen” Ryan, hoping to build a prize pot and make it through to the Final Chase.
Karen made an impressive start, earning £7,000 in her Cash Builder before deciding to stick with that amount for her head-to-head against Jenny. But one question quickly shifted the attention away from her performance.

Karen was asked: “Approximately, how much does it cost to produce one US cent coin?”
The three possible answers were 0.08 cents, 0.8 cents and 1.8 cents.
Unsure, Karen chose the middle option. Bradley appeared convinced that 1.8 cents couldn’t possibly be correct because it would mean producing the coin cost more than the coin itself was worth.
Karen agreed, describing that possibility as “ridiculous.”
Then the correct answer appeared: 1.8 cents.
Both Karen and Bradley were left open-mouthed. Bradley initially said nothing, instead looking around the studio as he tried to process what had just been revealed.
“Can you believe that?” he eventually exclaimed.
He continued: “How do you produce coins that cost more to produce than they are actually worth? That don’t make any sense at all!”
Still baffled, Bradley jokingly added: “What’s the matters with them? They need to pull themselves together.”

Bradley became even more curious when Jenny selected the correct answer and immediately wanted to know how she knew it.
The Vixen explained that there had been considerable discussion about getting rid of the one-cent coin, suggesting prices could simply stop ending in 99 cents and instead be rounded up to a dollar.
Despite being caught out by the unusual question, Karen recovered and successfully made it back to the team with her £7,000.
Rosie and the second contestant failed to survive their encounters with Jenny, while Joe returned with another £8,000.
That left Karen and Joe competing for £15,000 in the Final Chase.

The pair managed to set a target of 13, but Bradley feared they would need several pushbacks to have any chance of stopping The Vixen.
His concerns proved justified. Jenny produced a dominant performance, catching their total with 50 seconds remaining and sending the pair home without the prize money.
Yet one of the episode’s standout moments had already arrived much earlier — when a single question about a one-cent coin managed to leave Bradley Walsh wondering how the answer could possibly make sense.
