World Cup fans went crazy as Shakira took the stage, co-headlining the first-ever halftime show at the FIFA World Cup Final, joking that she ‘won the breakup’ as her ex, Gerard Piqué, attended the final matchup between Argentina and Spain.

On July 19, the Queen of Latin Music performed for a jam-packed crowd of soccer lovers during the Super Bowl-style halftime show at the FIFA World Cup Final at the New York-New Jersey Stadium. Shakira performed the show alongside a number of star-studded performers, including Justin Bieber, Madonna, BTS, Gustavo Dudamel, Coldplay, and more.

The star-studded show lasted 11 minutes, with fans tuning in from all around the world to share their live reactions. This comes as Shakria also performed the World Cup Opening Ceremony at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.

After the halftime show, viewers took to X to share their reactions to the performance, slamming her ex, who was in the stands watching. One fan savagely quipped, “Shakira has now appeared in 4 World Cups. Gerard Piqué only played in 3. She really won the breakup.”

The 49-year-old pop superstar was in a relationship with the former Spanish soccer player for 11 years and had two sons together before their highly publicized split in 2022.

More fans took to X, ridiculing Shakira’s ex as the Colombian singer performed the official World Cup anthem Dai Dai alongside Burna Boy, with one writing, “Soooo…we can all agree Gerard Piqué is a f—-n idiot, yes? #FIFAWorldCup Shakira doing Shakira things!”

Shakira and Gerard met on the set of the music video for her first World Cup anthem, ‘Waka Waka,’ in which he appeared alongside other FIFA stars like Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Dai Dai marks the 49-year-old singer’s third official World Cup song, following Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa and Dare (La La La) for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

Their song incorporates elements from many cultures and languages and blends numerous musical genres. Dai Dai mixes genres such as Afrobeats, dance-pop, and reggaetón and includes phrases from five different languages, including English, Spanish, Italian, French, and Japanese.
