Catherine, the Princess of Wales, will not be stepping in to broker peace between Prince William and Prince Harry, royal insiders and authors have revealed, dispelling long-held assumptions regarding her potential role as a family mediator. Despite Harry and Meghan Markle returning to British soil in August, the royal brothers remain firmly estranged, having held no in-person meetings since the move.
Addressing public expectations that Kate might facilitate a reconciliation, royal commentator Omid Scobie dismissed the notion in the newly released documentary, Harry & Meghan: The Return of the Prince:
“There’s always this talk of Kate potentially being the peacekeeper, the one that could bring the two brothers together. If I’ve learned anything over the years from covering them, it’s that Kate has very little to do with that relationship between the brothers.”
Echoing this assessment, People magazine royal writer Erin Hill shared that palace sources report William and Catherine are squarely focused on future institutional commitments rather than past domestic disputes. Confronted with the Sussexes’ presence back in the UK, the Prince and Princess of Wales have adopted a classic, traditional royal playbook: “Keep calm, carry on, do the job.”
“Right now Harry and Meghan, they’re not a priority for them, and they’re very much looking to the future,” Hill noted. By prioritizing their senior constitutional duties, public charitable initiatives, and children’s education, William and Kate have effectively signaled that navigating the brotherly rift is no longer on their immediate agenda.
