PRIDE OF BIRMINGHAM: THE HOME TOWN OF THE LATE OZZY OSBOURNE OFFICIALLY DECLARES THE FIRST-EVER ‘OZZY DAY’ TO MARK ONE YEAR SINCE HIS PASSING!

It’s time to celebrate the life and legacy of Ozzy Osbourne.

One year after the Black Sabbath icon died at age 76, the first-ever “Ozzy Day” will be held in his U.K hometown of Birmingham, the city announced on Thursday, July 16.

Central BID Birmingham announced “Ozzy Day” (presented with OPUS [Outdoor Places Unusual Spaces] in partnership with Birmingham City Council, Birmingham New Street and Westside BID) will be held on July 22, a.k.a. the one-year anniversary of his death.

The celebration will take place “across Birmingham city centre” and feature live music, public art and more to honor Osbourne’s life, according to the organization. Attendees will have the opportunity to visit places important to Osbourne’s journey, including the Black Sabbath Bench and Bridge, Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery, Birmingham New Street Station, Bullring, Selfridges and Martineau Place.

Bostin Brass, the five-piece brass band that performed at Osbourne’s funeral procession, will deliver a series of pop-up performances in his honor. Another live performance from the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO) will occur at Bullring.

Additionally, Ozzy the Bull — a mechanical bull used in the 2022 Commonweath Games that was named after Osbourne the following year — will be “dressed up for the occasion,” per Central BID Birmingham.

“Ozzy Day is a fantastic example of Birmingham working together to celebrate the legendary Ozzy Osbourne,” said Sam Watson, Chair of Central BID Birmingham, in a statement. “By bringing together businesses, cultural organizations and public spaces, we’re creating a city centre wide experience that encourages people to celebrate the legacy of a truly global, Birmingham-born icon.”

Councillor Deborah Harries, Cabinet Member for Culture, Birmingham City Council, also shared a statement about the occasion. “Ozzy Osbourne is one of Birmingham’s foremost cultural figures, and we continue to honor his legacy here in the city, where his journey began,” she said. “I am glad to see the city partners coming together to celebrate Ozzy’s influence on music and his pride in his hometown.”

“Black Sabbath’s contribution to Birmingham was recognised when they were awarded Freedom of the City on 30 June 2025. All of these anniversary events are, an opportunity for residents and visitors to celebrate this legacy, while showcasing the creativity, culture and character that make Birmingham so special,” continued Harries.

Osbourne died on July 22, 2025. According to a death certificate obtained by PEOPLE at the time, the legendary rock artist died of “out of hospital cardiac arrest” and “acute myocardial infarction,” with coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s disease with autonomic dysfunction listed as “joint causes.”

Earlier this month, Ozzy’s wife Sharon Osbourne shared an emotional message on Instagram to mark what would’ve been the couple’s 46th wedding anniversary.

“Today would have been our 46th wedding anniversary. Instead, it is a celebration of a love that even death could not diminish,” she wrote alongside a photo of their interlocked hands. “I miss your hand in mine, but I carry your love with me every step of the way. Forever my husband. Forever my heart.”
