Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo Reunite on Stage, 9 Months After Their Last Performance
Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo gave Wicked fans a surprise to remember when they reunited onstage during Grande’s London concert this week.
Erivo made an unexpected appearance at The O2 Arena on August 16, joining Grande during the encore of her Eternal Sunshine Tour. The emotional reunion marked the pair’s first joint performance since their televised Wicked: One Wonderful Night special in November 2025.
Ariana Grande brings Cynthia Erivo back to the Wicked world
After performing “Hate That I Made You Love Me,” Grande welcomed Erivo to the stage. The two stars embraced before launching into two songs that have become closely associated with their Wicked partnership.
They first performed “For Good,” the emotional duet between Glinda and Elphaba, their characters in the film series. They then followed it with “Get Happy / Happy Days Are Here Again,” the same medley they previously performed together during the 2025 television special.
For fans, the moment was more than just another surprise concert appearance. It was the first time Grande and Erivo had shared a stage since the end of the Wicked promotional cycle.
Their friendship appears as strong as ever
The reunion also comes amid renewed attention on the friendship between the two actresses.
During the Wicked press tour, Grande and Erivo became known for their affectionate interactions, emotional interviews and obvious closeness. Their friendship often attracted nearly as much attention online as the movies themselves.
That made the long gap between their last performance and this week’s reunion particularly noticeable.
Erivo had already hinted that she planned to attend one of Grande’s U.K. concerts, pushing back against speculation that the two had grown apart after completing their work on Wicked.
She has also previously dismissed suggestions that the pair “barely speak,” making it clear that their friendship continued even after the films and promotional commitments came to an end.
Their appearance together at The O2 now seems to offer a very public reminder that the bond they developed while making Wicked has remained intact.
A subtle Glinda and Elphaba fashion moment
The reunion also brought a touch of Wicked style to the London stage.
Grande performed in a white Givenchy couture look with Christian Louboutin boots, while Erivo wore a pale pink embellished Erdem ensemble with black thigh-high Louboutin boots.
Although neither star recreated her movie costume, the contrasting looks inevitably recalled the visual pairing of Glinda and Elphaba.
Their Wicked journey brought major recognition
Grande and Erivo starred opposite each other in the two-part Wicked film series, with Grande portraying Glinda and Erivo taking on the role of Elphaba.
Their performances in the first film earned both actresses Academy Award nominations, further cementing their status as one of Hollywood’s most talked-about musical pairings.
Their latest reunion gives fans another memorable chapter in that partnership — this time far away from the Wicked press tour and on Grande’s own concert stage.
Grande’s London concerts are the final stop of her tour
The reunion came during the final stretch of Grande’s Eternal Sunshine Tour. London serves as the tour’s final city, with Grande scheduled to perform multiple shows at The O2 before wrapping up the tour on September 1.
For fans, however, the unexpected appearance by Erivo may prove to be one of the most memorable moments of the entire London run.
