Book ‘Signed by Meghan Markle to Princess Eugenie’ Abruptly Pulled from eBay After £20,000 Listing Sparks Backlash

A copy of Meghan Markle’s 2021 children’s book The Bench, featuring a handwritten inscription allegedly dedicated to Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank, has been abruptly taken down from eBay just hours after sparking widespread online scrutiny.
The item was listed on the auction platform for an eye-watering £19,999.99. Photos included in the listing highlighted signs of gentle wear, suggesting the volume had been handled and read prior to appearing online.

The handwritten message inside the front cover read:
“2021. Dear Eug & Jack, Celebrating the special bond between father and son. I wrote this poem at Frogmore – I hope that Eug, you witness the same love there with your guys. All love, Meghan.”
The inscription pointed toward a personalized family gift celebrating the birth of Eugenie and Jack’s eldest son, August, who arrived in early 2021. The reference to Frogmore relates to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, where Harry and Meghan resided prior to stepping back from official duties in 2020, and where Eugenie and Jack later stayed.

However, the high-priced listing disappeared from the platform on Friday, October 2, at 1:48 PM, with eBay confirming that the seller ended the listing because “the item is no longer available,” indicating it was withdrawn rather than purchased.
Royal observers on social media quickly theorized that the Duchess or royal representatives may have intervened after discovering a private personal dedication circulating on the resale market at such an exorbitant asking price. Neither Buckingham Palace nor representatives for the Sussexes have commented on the authenticity of the signature or how the copy found its way onto the open market.
