Country star Megan Moroney broke down in tears amid abruptly canceling her recent Denver concert mid-show.

The 28-year-old singer cut her Tuesday evening set short after playing only a few songs inside the Colorado city’s Ball Arena, with fan footage captured inside the venue showing Moroney speaking to fans through a hoarse voice.

“This is obviously the last thing I ever want to do, but I am obviously extremely sick, and I thought I did everything to make myself better,” Moroney said. “But, obviously, two songs in, I just can’t play this show tonight. I will make it up to you guys. I promise I’ll be back.”

A smattering of boos could be heard immediately after Moroney’s initial statement, which quickly turned into supportive cheers as Moroney began to cry.

“I want to give you guys the show you deserve, I’m probably going to go cry in my dressing room now,” she said, pausing to wipe tears away from her face. “This is like, my worst nightmare. I promise to make it up to you guys 10 times. I love you, and I’m really sorry.”

In a subsequent Instagram Story, Moroney again apologized and stressed that she “never ever will give you guys a show that is not 100% and I knew that I was not capable of giving that to you tonight.”

She said she was also “quite literally bawling my eyes out in my dressing room” as she wrote the message, and told fans that “it hurts me to disappoint you all.”

A representative for Moroney did not immediately respond to Entertainment Weekly’s request for comment, though the canceled July 28 concert was eventually rescheduled for Aug. 27 at the Ball Arena.

Many fans indicated online that they then traveled to a nearby AC/DC concert after Moroney canceled her show.

“When Megan Moroney cancels 3 songs in, so you walk across the street to AC/DC instead,” one fan wrote on TikTok, noting that the mix of musical styles made for the “weirdest best night ever” for many attendees.

Three albums into her career, Moroney has become a popular rising star on the country circuit.

Each of her full-length releases to date has been certified Gold or higher by the Recording Industry Association of America, with February’s Cloud 9 even debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

Moroney has additionally notched six official singles on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart, with five of them reaching the top 40 or higher.
