An adorable seven-month-old baby girl was mauled to death by a family dog at her home.
Elizah Turner, of Columbus, Ohio, was fatally attacked by one of her family’s three pit bulls on Wednesday.
The injured infant was first taken to a nearby fire station before she was taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital around 11:43 am, where she was pronounced dead.
There were multiple dogs inside the home at the time of the attack, but it is unclear exactly which one bit the baby, Columbus Police Sgt. James Fuqua told WBNS.
He called the incident a tragic accident and said no charges are expected to be filed.
‘There is really not a lot of words I can say to convey how I feel and how the officers who arrived [feel]. Everyone in this process is literally grieving as if this child belonged to us because most of us are parents and can’t imagine just how this scene is,’ Fuqua added.
After the tragedy, the pit bulls were seen being escorted out of the home by Franklin County Animal Control. The agency will determine what happens to the dogs.
On Saturday, Elizah’s mother, Mackenzie Copley posted several images of her late daughter cuddling with one of their pit bulls.

Her husband and Elizah’s father, Kameron Turner, also took to Facebook a day after she died, saying: ‘Life is so not fair man why us why are [sic] baby. How can I continue living without her man?’
Kameron then posted his little girl’s obituary and said: ‘My poor baby.’
He frequently posts pictures of their pit bulls on social media.
Body camera footage, obtained by WSYX, showed officers responding to the home as a man greeted them and explained that a dog attacked Elizah.
He then told the authorities that he placed one of the dogs in a black car and two more were on the property.
She’s been described as a ‘spunky, happy’ baby who ‘was never without a smile,’ her obituary read.
‘She brought light to everyone’s life, healed her family’s hearts and gave them all purpose. Her favorite times were spent laughing with mom and dad,’ it continued.
Elizah, who was nicknamed ‘Kicking Wing,’ also loved to watch Miss Rachel on TV and had a ‘contagious laugh.’

She’s been described as a ‘spunky, happy’ baby who ‘was never without a smile.’ (Elizah with her mother and father)
She got her unique nickname from her grandfather because ‘every time someone new walked into the room her legs started kicking away because of how excited she was to see you.’
A GoFundMe page was also set up to help support her family during this challenging time.
‘No parent should ever have to endure this kind of pain. In a matter of moments, their beautiful journey as new parents was turned into one of unimaginable grief and heartbreak,’ the page read.
‘Their daughter was deeply loved. And through your support, her memory will be honored with compassion and care.’
As of Saturday afternoon, roughly $3,000 had been raised.
A funeral service is set to be held for Elizah on Monday, according to her obituary.
While pit bulls are banned in some parts of Ohio, they are allowed in Columbus, BSL Census.

Six-month-old Kyomi Temple was attacked last week at her family’s apartment in Baytown, Texas – about 38 minutes outside of Houston.
Paramedics took Kyomi to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Her death was publicly confirmed by authorities the next day.
Animal control seized two male pit bull mixes from the family’s apartment, police told PEOPLE. The dogs belonged to the baby’s parents.
Officials have identified which dog attacked Kyomi, noting that per city ordinance it will be euthanized. The family also reportedly agreed to having the dog put down.
Baytown police are investigating the incident. Officers have not made any arrests and no charges have been filed at this time.
Like Ohio, not all parts of Texas have a ban on pit bulls.
