‘Struggling to find words’ – Jude Bellingham breaks silence on England World Cup exit with emotional message from DRIVER
JUDE BELLINGHAM shared a touching poem written by the England team BUS DRIVER following the nation’s World Cup exit.
The 23-year-old star spearheaded England‘s journey to the semi-finals, netting six goals in seven games.
And he was one of the first players to reflect on the heartbreaking 2-1 loss to Argentina in the early hours of Friday morning, following captain Harry Kane’s emotional debrief on Thursday evening.
Taking to Instagram, Bellingham shared a four-page poem written by the team driver, Michael Chandler.
The poem was titled ‘The Lions Way’ and reflected on the nation’s tournament journey.
Alongside it, Bellingham wrote: “Was really struggling to find the right words for yesterday and the last few weeks but this pretty much hits the nail on the head from our driver in Kansas.
“Thank you for the unbelievable support from back home and to those who spent their hard earned money to travel to America and get behind us.
“Don’t let the unity and love we’ve seen in our country end with this campaign.
“When we’re together we can achieve big things… And we will! Love yous!”
It was the first time that Bellingham had properly spoken about England’s World Cup journey and exit.
The midfielder had already reflected on a confrontation with Lionel Messi that occurred during the game.
Messi could be seen giving Bellingham a snarky look and waving him away.
However, the Real Madrid superstar insisted “nothing bad at all” happened.
He explained: “We were discussing a foul actually, but it was nothing bad at all.
“I’m sure everyone will do their thing and make it a big deal, but no, it was nothing big really.
“I thought it was a foul earlier and he said, ‘What about the one on me?’ And I was just saying, ‘You’re strong enough to take them’.
“It’s a privilege to play against him, it was nothing like that against him.
“Obviously I’m on the losing side, it hurts a lot but it’s a privilege to play against one of the best.”
Bellingham was visibly devastated after the loss to Argentina and could be seen crying in the stands when reuniting with his family.
The Three Lions had the advantage in the 55th minute of the semi-final when Anthony Gordon flicked home a Morgan Rogers cross.
However, they found themselves on the back foot when Thomas Tuchel made a series of defensive changes.
Enzo Fernandez eventually equalised in the late stages with a strike from outside the box.
And super-sub Lautaro Martinez netted the winner in added time to send Argentina through to the final.
