Vinicius Jr blasted for partying on superyacht with influencer on his lap after Brazil World Cup humiliation
VINICIUS JR is at the centre of a World Cup failure storm – after being captured partying with a social media influencer.
The Real Madrid superstar, 26, has copped the flak from Selecao fans after Brazil’s last-16 exit at the hands of Norway.
Vinicius has been pinpointed as the ringleader of the decision for all but ONE member of Carlo Ancelotti’s squad to not fly back to Rio de Janeiro and face the music for their humiliation.
He was already taking stick for not standing up to take the first half spot-kick missed by Newcastle’s Bruno Guimaraes against Erling Haaland’s Vikings.
And Vinicius’ decision to head off to charter a superyacht moored off Ibiza – and be pictured with scantily-clad Virginia Fonseca draped all over his lap – has sparked outrage.
One prominent insider said: “Behaving like this, after the World Cup, feels like a slap in the face for every Brazilian and every fan of the team.
“The feeling in Brazil is that he should have taken the penalty.
“Vini is supposed to be the superstar, the one who takes responsibility.
“Instead, he passed it up and left it to Bruno.
“People think it is as selfish as Neymar deciding to take the fifth penalty in the shootout against Croatia in Qatar – when Brazil were out after four kicks.”
Like many of his team-mates – only former Manchester City full-back Danilo, now at Flamengo, took the Brazilian FA’s charter home – Vinicius said very little in the aftermath of the World Cup elimination.
There was a brief social media message of apology to fans earlier this week but that is being viewed as nowhere near enough.
And now the snaps of him with Brazilian-American Fonseca, an on-off partner over recent months, has added to the fury.
The cost of hiring the superyacht is understood to be in the region of £1million.
Fonseca, who Vinicius publicly split from on the second day of the tournament, has been working for a Brazilian TV station but was widely criticised for her broadcasting skills.
The insider added: “This has gone down so badly. People are furious. And it is Vini who is being blamed.”
