Prince William And Prince Albert Of Monaco Deliver Rare Joint Message As Europe Faces Escalating Wildfires—And One Powerful Remark Is Resonating Far Beyond The Royal World

Prince Albert of Monaco is sending a message of support to the victims of the wildfires ravaging Europe.

As evacuations and safety warnings continue in parts of France, Spain and the U.K., the European royal posted a message to social media on behalf of himself and his wife, Princess Charlene.

He wrote, in French, “As massive wildfires sweep across many parts of the world, including France, Spain and the U.K., Princess Charlene joins me in sending our deepest support to all those affected. Our thoughts are with the ordeal [sic] families, those who are forced to leave their homes, and all the communities mobilized to face this ordeal.”

“We salute the remarkable bravery of firefighters, emergency crews, and all who work tirelessly to protect populations and preserve threatened territories,” the prince’s statement continued.

The fires broke out amid a sweltering summer of European heatwaves, which saw regions of the continent hit temperatures up to 104 degrees Fahrenheit. More than 300,000 people have been forced to evacuate their homes as the fires burn near Madrid in Spain and in the Bordeaux region of France.

The U.K. has so far seen smaller-scale fires, but a major incident was declared in Scotland over the weekend due to a significant wildfire in the Cairngorms.

Like Prince William’s statement on the dangerous blazes from earlier this week, Prince Albert’s also included a call to action for environmental change.

“These fires also affect precious natural environments and a fragile biodiversity. They result in part from the major disruptions affecting our climate, and more than ever call for courageous responses. Protecting our environment is an emergency that must bring us all together,” he wrote. “In these difficult times, our solidarity is with each of those affected.”

Prince William and Prince Albert share a passion for environmental activism. In June 2025, the Prince of Wales — who hosts the annual Earthshot Prize to “find, celebrate and scale the solutions that will repair our planet by 2030” — traveled to Monaco to join Albert, France’s President Emmanuel Macron and other world leaders at the Blue Economy and Finance Forum.

There, the Prince of Wales spoke about Earthshot’s ambitious decade-long goal to protect 30% of land and sea by 2030.

“If we are to reach our goal, we urgently need to take bold action to protect and restore our planet,” Prince William said. “We must realize the potential of the blue economy for our ecosystems, our economies, and our communities with creativity, ingenuity, investment, and support. We can unlock exciting innovations and solutions that protect our planet, create jobs, sustain livelihoods, and encourage prosperity.”

“This challenge is like none that we have faced before. But I remain an optimist. I believe that urgency and optimism have the power to bring about the action needed to change the course of history.”Like Prince Albert, Prince William also released a statement on the wildfires on behalf of himself and his wife, Kate Middleton, with a strong call to action.

“Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the devastating wildfires across France, Spain and the U.K,” the royal heir wrote. “We are deeply grateful to the firefighters, emergency services and volunteers working tirelessly in extraordinarily difficult conditions. These events are a stark reminder of the challenges posed by an increasingly extreme climate and the importance of protecting both people and nature.”
