Ellie, 25, shared a brand new video which followed her over the course of several weeks as she underwent several tests and hospital procedures after discovering she had “pre-cancerous cells”.

In the clip, Ellie revealed that following her initial smear test, she was told she would need a further follow-up appointment after her cells were discovered to be “high-grade”.

It meant that five weeks after undergoing the smear, Ellie had to be hauled back into hospital for another test.

Ellie revealed she had a colposcopy which she described as being a more “in-depth” smear test – something she had said would confirm for sure if her cells were “high-grade” and pre-cancerous and if further action needed to be taken.

Speaking at that time, Ellie said: “It was basically just like a smear test but it was just for a little bit longer.

“They put some fluid in my cervix, just to see what it brought up.”

Unfortunately for the Strictly Come Dancing winner, it confirmed what doctors had thought and she was told that she needed to face another hospital procedure.

Ellie was told by doctors that she needed a treatment known as LLETZ – which involved the use of a hot wire placed inside the cervix to burn off all the cells.

This helps to prevent cervical cancer down the line with the cells having been ‘killed off’.

Ellie revealed she burst into tears during the “uncomfortable” procedure which resulted in her having a local anaethetic.

However, Ellie went on to share her relief when doctors told her weeks later that the procedure had been successful in removing the dangerous pre-cancerous cells.

In her video, Ellie could be heard saying after her shocking ordeal: “I am feeling so much better about it now.

“Obviously, I know they have been removed so that’s great but I was just waiting for my results so I was still apprehensive as to what was going to happen.

“It’s now all fine – I’ll just have to go for another smear in six months.

“If this has taught me anything, I mean I knew it was important anyway, but it is so so important to go for your smear test.”
