Ariana Grande is preparing to step away from the spotlight.

After wrapping up her Eternal Sunshine Tour in London on Sept. 1, the 33-year-old singer plans to take a break from public life as renewed attention surrounding her health and appearance continues to grow.

A representative for Grande told PEOPLE exclusively, “Ariana will be taking a step back from visibility after she completes the Eternal Sunshine Tour.”

“She looks forward to finishing the tour and ending it on a high note, both healthily and happily, and then taking a much-deserved break from public-facing work and appearances, which has led to endless, ongoing public scrutiny,” the rep continued. “This tour has been a beautiful experience for her. She loves her fans and has loved every minute of this tour so much.”

A source close to the singer also emphasized that Grande has been keeping up with the demanding schedule throughout the tour.

“She performs a very physical show, and there is a lot of athleticism involved. She performs healthily and successfully at a very high level night after night,” the source shared.

PEOPLE has also confirmed that Grande will no longer appear in the upcoming West End revival of Stephen Sondheim’s Sunday in the Park with George.

The production was set to open next summer at London’s Barbican Centre, with Grande starring opposite her Wicked co-star Jonathan Bailey.

Despite stepping away from the project, a source close to the singer said she “cannot wait to support the brilliant team bringing this project to life.”

Grande’s appearance and overall health have remained a frequent topic of public discussion in recent years.

The conversation intensified once again after the release of the music video for her latest single, “Petal,” from her newly released album of the same name on July 31, with renewed online speculation surrounding the singer.

The Grammy Award winner has hit back at commentary surrounding her body on various occasions.

In her song “Yes, And?” off her 2024 album Eternal Sunshine, Grande sings at one point, “My face is sitting, I don’t need no disguise / Don’t comment on my body, do not reply / Your business is yours, and mine is mine.”

According to the insider, Petal reflects Grande’s complicated relationship with life in the spotlight.

“This album is a fight song, an anthem about the love-hate relationship with the public and their toxicity,” the source said.

The insider also pushed back against speculation that the record centers on a past romance, adding, “This album is not about any romantic partner or breakup in that way.”

Grande launched her Eternal Sunshine Tour in June in Oakland, California, before performing across the United States with stops in Los Angeles, Atlanta, New York City, and several other cities.

She is set to wrap up the U.S. leg this week in Chicago before heading to London for the final shows of the tour.
