WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE? viewers were left completely baffled after a seemingly straightforward question about Britain’s Got Talent produced an answer many viewers insisted was “incorrect.” 😱

Who Wants to Be A Millionaire? Viewers Baffled as ‘Wrong’ Answer Sparks Confusion Over Britain’s Got Talent Question

Who Wants to Be A Millionaire? viewers were left scratching their heads after a seemingly straightforward question about Britain’s Got Talent appeared to have two possible correct answers.

The confusion unfolded just minutes into an ITV episode featuring Jeremy Clarkson as quizmaster and Emily, from Sheffield, who was returning to continue her attempt to win the £1 million jackpot.

Emily had previously reached £2,000 and was back in the hot seat hoping to climb further up the money ladder.

But one early question immediately caused a problem for viewers at home.

The Question That Left Viewers Confused

Emily was asked:

“Which of these is the only person to have been a regular judge on both ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ and ‘Britain’s Got Talent’?”

The four options were Amanda Holden, Bruno Tonioli, Darcey Bussell and Alesha Dixon.

Emily turned to the studio audience for help, with the overwhelming majority selecting Alesha Dixon.

She followed their advice and locked in Alesha as her answer.

The decision was confirmed as correct, allowing Emily to continue her journey towards the £1 million prize.

But viewers quickly noticed something that appeared to undermine the wording of the question.

Viewers Spot Bruno Tonioli Problem

Bruno Tonioli had also been a regular judge on Strictly Come Dancing before joining Britain’s Got Talent.

The Italian dancer and choreographer was a longstanding Strictly judge until 2019, when Anton du Beke took over his role.

Bruno subsequently joined Britain’s Got Talent in 2023, appearing on the judging panel alongside Alesha Dixon.

That meant both Alesha and Bruno had, at different points, been regular judges on the two shows.

Viewers took to social media to question the apparent discrepancy.

One wrote: “Who wants to be a Millionaire Surely there are two answers to this question. Both Bruno and Alesha have been judges on both.”

Another replied: “I just thought it was me thinking the same.”

A third viewer added: “Literally just thought the same.”

The Recording Date Explained Everything

However, the apparent mistake had an explanation.

The episode was a rerun that had originally been filmed in 2022, before Bruno joined Britain’s Got Talent in 2023.

Viewers noticed that the programme had been recorded before Bruno became a judge on the ITV talent show.

One person pointed out that the announcer had clarified during the programme that the answers were correct based on the time of recording.

Another viewer spotted a reference to 2022 in the end credits, explaining why Bruno was not considered a correct answer.

So while the question may have looked incorrect to viewers watching it years later, Alesha Dixon was the intended and correct answer when the episode was originally recorded.

Who Has Won the Millionaire Jackpot?

Who Wants to Be A Millionaire? has given hundreds of contestants the chance to compete for the £1 million jackpot, but only five have officially won the top prize.

Charles Ingram, who appeared to become the show’s third jackpot winner in 2001, had his claim to the prize rejected following cheating allegations.

The five official winners are:

Judith Keppel

Garden designer Judith Keppel became the first contestant to win the £1 million jackpot in 2000. She remains the only woman to have won the top prize.

David Edwards

Former physics teacher David Edwards became the second jackpot winner in April 2001. He later competed in both series of Are You an Egghead? in 2008 and 2009.

Robert Brydges

Oxford-educated banker Robert Brydges became the third official winner several months after Edwards in 2001. He has largely remained out of the public eye since his victory.

Pat Gibson

Irish quiz player and world champion Pat Gibson won the jackpot in 2004. Remarkably, he still had two lifelines remaining when he faced the final question.

Ingram Wilcox

Ingram Wilcox reached the £1 million prize in 2006 despite having used all his lifelines by the £32,000 stage.

For the viewers confused by the Britain’s Got Talent question, however, the key detail was ultimately the recording date: Alesha Dixon was the only correct answer in 2022, because Bruno Tonioli did not join the show until 2023.
