A Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? contestant saw her chance to increase her winnings to £4,000 disappear after becoming stuck on a question about a familiar Channel 4 television show.
Ashley had already secured £1,000 when host Jeremy Clarkson presented her with a question that appeared straightforward to many viewers — but despite using two lifelines, she could not decide between the final two answers.
The question that left Ashley struggling
Clarkson asked:
“What precedes ‘… Amazing Spaces’ in the title of a Channel 4 property series?”
Ashley was given four possible answers:
- A) Kevin McCloud’s
- B) Kirstie and Phil’s
- C) Sarah Beeny’s
- D) George Clarke’s
She initially leaned towards Kirstie and Phil’s, but quickly began to doubt herself and decided to use a lifeline.
Ashley asked Clarkson for his advice.
The presenter immediately ruled out Kevin McCloud, pointing out that his well-known Channel 4 programme is Grand Designs.
Clarkson then tried to work through the remaining possibilities himself, joking that Sarah Beeny was always involved in home improvement programmes while admitting he had never heard of George Clarke.
The uncertainty did little to reassure Ashley.
She explained that she did not watch much television, leaving her particularly unsure about the answer.

Clarkson eventually encouraged Ashley to use her 50/50 lifeline, which removes two incorrect options and leaves the contestant with just two possible answers.
After the lifeline was activated, Ashley was left with:
C) Sarah Beeny’s
or
D) George Clarke’s
Unfortunately, those were precisely the two answers between which she had been struggling.
As the tension mounted, Ashley appeared increasingly unsure. Clarkson even joked that the show’s computer was being “vindictive” as she tried to make her decision.
Eventually, she locked in Sarah Beeny’s.
Her reaction suggested she already feared the answer was wrong.
And she was right.
Ashley walks away with £1,000
The correct answer was D) George Clarke’s — referring to George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces.
Ashley admitted that she simply did not know the answer, bringing her run towards the £4,000 mark to an end.
Clarkson sympathised with her after she was forced to choose between the final two options and attempted to soften the disappointment.
“At least you get to walk away with £1,000,” he told her.
So, despite having two lifelines at her disposal, Ashley was unable to identify the correct answer and missed out on an additional £3,000.
For viewers watching at home, the question may have seemed considerably easier — but with the pressure of the studio, the countdown and £4,000 at stake, Ashley’s hesitation showed just how quickly even seemingly familiar questions can become difficult on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?
