The Chase’s Bradley Walsh was mind-blown after one of the closest games ever on the ITV programme. Two contestants managed to win their share of the prize pot after an “unbelievable” game against The Chaser.

Matt, Elle, Steve and Tracey made up the team of four contestants who were eager to test their general knowledge skills against one of the UK’s best quizzers. Tracey was first up to take on The Chaser, who in this case was Mark Labbett aka The Beast.

Tracey tested her luck against The Beast, but her time on the quiz show was cut short when she failed to outrun The Chaser. She soon heard Bradley Walsh’s dreaded words: “You have been caught and for you the chase is over.”

Bradley welcomed next contestant Steve onto the show. The contestant bagged £8,000 but followed in his teammate’s unfortunate footsteps when he was caught by The Chaser.

Steve said he was “gutted” while Brad said: “I bet you are, you’re an unbelievably good player.”

Next up was Elle who managed to kickstart the shared cash prize pot. She returned with £5,000 after a successful run against The Beast. Last contestant Matt joined Elle, increasing the cash pot to £13,000.

In the end, the two quizzers took part in the final chase. In one of the closest games ever, Elle and Matt managed to win their share of the prize pot as The Beast failed to catch their score of 20.

With six seconds left on the clock, Elle and Matt accepted their fate. But they saw hope when The Beast answered a question wrong.

Bradley Walsh asked: “The culinary term SOS stands for Sauce on the what?” Mark Labbett answered “steak”, which was wrong. The quiz host shouted: “Stop the clock that is wrong, whoa, man!”

The players had the chance to step in, and Matt answered correctly as he said “side”, which pushed The Chaser back.

Bradley said: “Yesss it is. Oh my goodness- two to catch.” But The Beast failed to answer the last question on time and yelled: “Damn”, knowing he had lost the game.

The ITV host turned to the players, who were unsure of the result as it was so close, said: “You have won £13,000!”

Brad continued: “What a match that was unbelievable! Wow. Wasn’t that great?” He added: “This is the most exciting quiz show, I thoroughly enjoyed that.”

Viewers also agreed the round was one of the most exciting games ever. On X, one said: “Whew that was close!! Well done them.”

A second said: “Whew that was close!! Well done them” while a third added: “I was on the edge of my seat, best episode in ages.”

More added to the conversation on social media: “What a final. Brilliant”, “What a chase that was!” and “Very well deserved- delighted for them!”

As the episode came to an end, Bradley turned to the camera and said: “Listen never watch any other show, just watch this one.”
