The Chase viewers were left scratching their heads during Monday’s episode after a contestant appeared to give the correct answer — only for Bradley Walsh to reject it on a technicality.
Dave was taking part in the Cash Builder alongside fellow contestants Natalie, Jonathon and Janet when he faced a question about the full title of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
What followed quickly became a talking point among viewers, many of whom felt the ruling was unnecessarily harsh.

Dave gives the full answer — but it’s marked wrong
Bradley Walsh asked Dave:
“What word ends the full title of the TV show known as ‘I’m A Celebrity…’?”
Dave replied:
“Get Me Out Of Here.”
However, Bradley immediately corrected him.
“Here.”
The problem was that the question had specifically asked for one word to complete the title, rather than the entire phrase.
Although Dave had clearly included the word “here” in his response, his answer contained the additional words “Get Me Out Of”, meaning it did not match the precise format requested.
Dave went on to finish the Cash Builder with £5,000 before facing Chaser Jenny Ryan, but viewers argued that he should have been awarded an additional £1,000 for the question.

Viewers accuse Bradley of being too strict
The decision sparked plenty of confusion on social media, with some fans convinced Dave had actually said “here” and others wondering whether his accent had contributed to the misunderstanding.
One viewer called it:
“Most harsh wrong answer ever. Get me out of here.”
Another asked:
“He said ‘here’ didn’t he?”
A third questioned:
“Why did Bradley not give him that question on his cash builder?”
Another viewer was particularly frustrated, writing:
“‘I’m a celebrity get me out of here’ just because he said ere instead of here!!! It’s his accent!!”
Others said they were equally confused after hearing the contestant’s response.
“I’m confused – didn’t Dave say I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here? Did I mishear it or did Bradley Walsh?”
One viewer even joked:
“I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of ‘Ere’.”

But there was a catch
Despite the outrage, other The Chase fans pointed out that the wording of the question was important.
The question didn’t ask Dave to complete the title in full. It asked for “the last word”.
As one viewer explained:
“The question was ‘the last word’, which is ‘here’. ‘Get me out of here’ is five words.”
Another said they had rewound the episode to check Dave’s response and agreed that he had said “here” — but ultimately accepted the ruling because he had given the entire phrase rather than the single word requested.
“Harsh but still wrong, I guess.”
So while some viewers felt Dave had effectively supplied the correct information, the show’s ruling came down to the exact wording of the question and the format of the answer required.
Dave nevertheless left the Cash Builder with a respectable £5,000 before taking on Jenny Ryan in the next stage of the game.
