Paul Sinha was left completely baffled on The Chase after contestant Ryan appeared to guess his way through a string of difficult questions — and still walked away with a staggering £50,000.
The Chaser, known as The Sinnerman, struggled to understand how Ryan kept producing the correct answers despite repeatedly admitting that he had simply guessed them.
At one point, Paul was so stunned by the contestant’s extraordinary run that he collapsed onto the table.
The dramatic moment came during the ITV quiz show after Ryan had answered just two questions correctly in the Cash Builder but decided to take the £50,000 offer.
Ryan takes the £50,000 gamble
Ryan had managed only two correct answers in his Cash Builder, but he was still prepared to take a major gamble.
Rather than play for a smaller offer, he opted for the £50,000 prize.
What happened next left both Paul and host Bradley Walsh stunned.
Ryan went on to answer four questions correctly, despite repeatedly claiming that his answers were nothing more than guesses.
His remarkable run secured him a place in the Final Chase, leaving Paul struggling to explain what he had just witnessed.
Bradley was so impressed by Ryan’s apparent luck that he urged him to “get yourself a lottery ticket”.
Paul, meanwhile, admitted he had been completely thrown by the contestant’s performance.
“Well those weren’t easy questions but Ryan made them look simple,” Paul said.
Paul suspects Ryan is ‘playing a game’
Paul was particularly suspicious of how effortlessly Ryan had managed to get through some challenging questions.
“The guy knows how to bluff us,” the Chaser remarked.
He then warned that Ryan could prove dangerous if he made it through to the Final Chase.
“He’s going to be a danger in that Final Chase because his knowledge of chemical reactions and British postcodes and geometry is second to none,” Paul said.
Ryan’s run had clearly left Paul struggling to work out just how much the contestant actually knew.
“He breezed through some very difficult questions – I don’t know what to expect. I think you might be playing a game Ryan!”
Bradley, however, did not appear convinced that Ryan was deliberately trying to deceive the Chaser.
The Final Chase reveals the truth
Ryan joined his fellow contestant Richard for the Final Chase, with the team playing for an impressive £56,000.
However, the pair struggled when faced with the questions and managed to build just 14 steps.
Paul was then given the task of chasing them down.
Despite the team’s efforts, The Sinnerman eventually caught them with 47 seconds still remaining on the clock.
That appeared to settle the debate over whether Ryan had been deliberately bluffing his way through the earlier rounds.
Paul quipped: “So we do know now that Ryan wasn’t bluffing and he isn’t the world’s greatest quizzer!”
Ryan’s extraordinary run may have ended in disappointment, but his string of unexpected correct guesses certainly left Paul Sinha and the studio audience stunned.
