Fans of The 1% Club were left scratching their heads during the latest episode after one particularly tricky question sparked a heated debate over whether the programme had given the right answer.

Lee Mack returned to host the ITV quiz show, where contestants faced a series of increasingly difficult puzzles designed to test logic rather than general knowledge.
But one question proved especially divisive.
Contestants were asked: “Which of these groups of six symbols are in the same order whether you read them from left to right or from right to left?”
Five possible answers were displayed, labelled A to E.
When the official answer was revealed as C, however, some viewers immediately questioned the result.
Several fans watching at home took to social media to argue that A appeared to be the correct choice, while others admitted they simply could not understand why C was the answer.

One viewer wrote: “Baffled! I didn’t understand this one at all.”
Another asked: “Can someone please explain how it’s C?”
A third admitted: “I said A and I still think A. I don’t understand how it’s not.”
Viewers Debate What the Question Actually Means

The disagreement quickly developed into a wider discussion about how the symbols should be interpreted when read in reverse.
One viewer suggested that the wording itself could cause confusion, arguing that “A or C could be correct depending on the definition of right to left used.”
Another attempted to explain the distinction, pointing out that the question was not asking whether the sequence looked identical when physically mirrored, but whether the types and order of the symbols remained the same when read from the opposite direction.
One fan explained that option A changes when read from right to left because the bracket symbols effectively switch position, whereas C retains the required sequence when interpreted in the intended way.
Another viewer offered a similar breakdown, explaining that the symbols in A would represent alternating left and right brackets when read in one direction, but would reverse when read the other way.
The explanation did little to stop the debate, however, with several fans remaining convinced that A should have been accepted.
Four Contestants Share £97,000
Away from the controversial puzzle, the episode ended with a major payday for four contestants.
The quartet successfully answered the final question and walked away with a share of £97,000.
Lee Mack appeared delighted by their success, while two other contestants missed out after giving incorrect answers.
The format of The 1% Club is designed to make the questions progressively harder, with the final challenges intended to be solvable by only a small proportion of the population.
That can make the show’s questions particularly prone to debate, especially when viewers approach a puzzle using a slightly different interpretation from the one intended by the programme.
For those watching at home, though, the argument over question C proved almost as entertaining as the contestants’ battle for the prize money.
