The contestant shared the reason why she declined the offer

The Chase’s Darragh Ennis was shocked by what one contestant said on the ITV quiz show. As part of the new run of episodes, Liam, Janice, Charlotte and Shaun made up the team of four quizzers who were eager to test their general knowledge skills against one of the UK’s best quizzers.
Shaun from London was first up to take on The Chaser, who in this case was Darragh “The Menace” Ennis. He gave a great performance in the Cash Builder round and accumulated an impressive £6,000.
But his time on the quiz programme soon came to an unfortunate end when he was caught by The Chaser. Charlotte was next up and hoped to make a better impression.
The contestant took part in the quick-fire question round and also bagged £6,000. Darragh gave Charlotte two options, a high offer of a whopping £50,000 as well as a low offer to play for just £1,000.
However, The Chaser was shocked when the contestant said £50,000 was not high enough. Charlotte said: “Unfortunately £50,000 is not high enough for me and £1,000 is a little bit too low so I’m just going to stick with my £6,000 I think.”

Darragh Ennis was shocked by what she said. He said: “I don’t know. When I was in my 20s if someone offered me £50,000 for five minutes work I would’ve snapped it.”
The Chase viewers also agreed with Darragh about Charlotte’s “not high enough” admission. Taking to social media, one viewer said: “£50,000 not high enough? Is she having a laugh.” A second added: “How is £50K not high enough for you, Charlotte?!”
Despite her decision to play for what she earned, Charlotte followed in Shaun’s unfortunate footsteps and her time on the show came to an end.
She soon heard Bradley Walsh’s dreaded words: “You have been caught and for you, the chase is over.” Next up was Janice, who was keen to secure the first place in the final. But she was also eliminated from the game after a tricky head-to-head.
Last contestant Liam followed in his teammates’ unfortunate footsteps, which meant no one secured a spot in the final. In this unique situation on the game show, all the players were then invited back for the final chase, with the chance to win £4,000.
Liam was nominated to take part in the final round, but his score of five wasn’t strong enough to beat The Chaser and the players went home empty-handed.
The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV1 and ITVX
