Darragh Ennis had barely begun his latest appearance on The Chase when he delivered an unexpected warning to contestant Megan — and it had nothing to do with answering questions.
The Chaser was back on the ITV quiz show alongside four hopeful contestants: Paul, Neil, Megan and Rosalind. But when Megan approached the table, Ennis revealed some advice he had received from his fellow Chaser, Mark “The Beast” Labbett.
And it involved baking.

After Megan walked out of the tunnel, Ennis greeted her before explaining the warning he had been given when he first joined the Chasers.
“Well I haven’t been here very long, but on the first day the Beast took me aside and said the first rule is, if you bake and you don’t bring a cake in… you’re in a lot of trouble,” Ennis said.
Bradley Walsh immediately agreed with the sentiment, joking that the rule was fair.
The playful exchange quickly gave way to the serious business of the game, as Walsh asked Megan to put her money on the table before the offers were revealed.

Rosalind had already answered six questions correctly in her Cash Builder, building a total of £6,000 before the players faced their next challenge.
Ennis then presented Megan with a low offer of £1,000 and a high offer of £32,000.
Despite having the opportunity to increase her winnings, Megan decided to stick with the £6,000 she had earned.
It ultimately did not work out in her favour, as Ennis caught her and sent her out of the competition.

The Chaser went on to defeat Neil as well, leaving Paul and Rosalind to continue into the Final Chase.
Paul had taken a major risk earlier in the game by accepting the high offer of £54,000.
The decision paid off by giving the team another opportunity to build a strong target for Ennis.
Together, Paul and Rosalind managed to put 19 steps on the board.
However, the pair still had the difficult task of holding off the Chaser.
Ennis made one mistake during his Final Chase, giving the contestants a chance to push him back.
They successfully used the opportunity, but Ennis quickly recovered and continued closing the gap.

Bradley Walsh eventually revealed just how quickly the Chaser had completed the pursuit.
“One attempt to pushback, one executed – and well done on that,” Walsh explained.
“However, you were beaten with 41 seconds remaining – now that is 10 questions. You needed 24 to beat him at that speed,” he added.
Ennis reflected on Paul’s decision to take the high offer, admitting that the gamble had made the game more interesting.
“Very brave for Paul to go for the high offer, it made for an interesting game,” he said.
“But you didn’t get quite enough to put me under pressure. Another four or five and it could’ve been a different game.”
The episode gave viewers another glimpse of Ennis settling into his role as one of The Chase’s Chasers, while his light-hearted exchange with Megan provided a memorable moment before the competition became serious.
The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
