Country music superstar John Rich, of the duo Big & Rich, recently shared that he had the opportunity to pray with iconic KISS frontman Gene Simmons.
“On my tour bus, I just held hands and prayed with Gene Simmons that Jesus would make himself known to him in such a way they he couldn’t deny him,” Rich posted on social media. “Pray that Gene gives his life to Christ. God’s will be done.”
Rich’s post went viral and received numerous comments. One of the country singer’s followers told him to stop putting celebrities above others.
“Gene has had ample time to accept Jesus, why not pray for those that cannot and or do not have the capacity to?,” the person asked. “Stop placing celebrities on a pedestal, they are no better than the poorest and most unfortunate of us! Perhaps you need to do some introspection Sir?”
Rich replied, “The Spirit moved.”
Another wrote, “If that happens, it will be a TRUE miracle. Like, Saul on the Road to Damascus style. Why? Because Gene was raised to HATE Jesus Christ.”
“Saul/Paul is the perfect example. It CAN happen,” Rich answered.
In 2021, Simmons defended Tim Tebow against critics of the former NFL quarterback’s outspoken Christian faith.
“I support Tim Tebow,” Simmons posted on social media. “He was widely criticized and made fun of, simply because he is a man of faith, who believed in his Christian values. Shame on the NFL and the rest of the world for stooping so low.”
Simmons was born in Israel and raised in a practicing Jewish home, but rumors have long circulated that the band’s name, KISS, is an acronym for “Knights in Satan’s Service.”
Despite the fact that his stage persona is “The Demon,” a character who often spits fake blood and breathes fire while wearing a winged, bat-like costume, Simmons has debunked the rumor, saying, “I don’t worship the devil. I worship myself.”
Throughout his career, Simmons has spoken openly in several interviews about his sex addiction, claiming to have had sex with more than 5,000 women.
Celebrity Evangelist Dylan Novak has had the opportunity to share the gospel with Simmons on more than one occasion.
During his most recent visit with the “Rock and Roll All Nite” singer, Novak gave Simmons a Bible personalized with Simmons’ name. Novak also shared that Simmons was asking more questions about Christianity and the truth that Jesus is the Messiah.
