Bradley Walsh found himself on the receiving end of some unusually harsh criticism from The Chase viewers after repeatedly getting answers wrong during Wednesday’s episode.
The ITV presenter was hosting the quiz as four contestants — Bob, Bernadette, Rebecca and Kwasi — took on Chaser Anne Hegerty.
But while the players were battling to prove their knowledge, Bradley repeatedly offered his own opinions on the questions, only to discover that his answers were not always correct.
His mistakes quickly frustrated some viewers, who took to Twitter to voice their displeasure.

Viewers tell Bradley to “shut up”
One particularly unimpressed viewer, @RikLivetweet, wrote: “Seriously Brad, shut up. You don’t know anything, we all know you don’t know anything, so please for the love of God stop proving it. #TheChase.”
Another viewer, @SenorApple2014, sarcastically praised Bradley for displaying his “outstanding (lack of) knowledge.”
Others joined in.
“Think you need to go back to school, Bradley,” @MissMarrple wrote.
“Oh give it a rest Bradley,” @Adderladders added.
@Anonamandamous poked fun at Bradley’s habit of describing contestants’ answers as “fantastic answers”, joking that if an answer was still considered fantastic after Bradley disagreed with it and got the question wrong, then every answer should qualify.
Another viewer, @MorcomDiane, accused Bradley of taking the mickey out of a contestant despite the player being correct.
Meanwhile, @mookstar10 described Bradley’s performance as “so cringe” and said they were glad they could only watch half of the episode.
Bradley gets a lesson in chemistry
The criticism followed a particularly memorable exchange involving contestant Bob.
Bradley asked the contestants: “Metal sculptures in Ancient Greece were typically made from what?”
Bob answered bronze.
Bradley was convinced that Bob had chosen incorrectly.
However, when the correct answer was revealed, it was Bob who had got the question right.
“Oh, you’re good Bob,” Bradley admitted. “What a player!”
The exchange then turned into an impromptu chemistry lesson for the presenter.
Anne pointed out that bronze is an alloy.
“Is it?” Bradley asked.
“Yeah, they both are,” Bob replied.
Anne then explained that bronze is made from copper and tin.
Bradley admitted: “I didn’t know that. I thought tin was a bit of iron and a bit of something else.”
Anne was clearly surprised by the revelation.
“It’s an element!” she exclaimed.
Bradley is surprised by Cornwall’s tin mines
The discussion took an even more unexpected turn when Bradley questioned whether Cornwall’s famous tin mines really referred to mining tin.
“So, the tin mines in Cornwall… they actually do mean the tin mines?” he asked.
Anne was incredulous.
“Well, yes. What did you think they meant?” she replied.
Bradley explained that he had assumed “tin mines” was simply a name rather than a literal reference to tin being extracted from the ground.
“I just thought it was a name they gave it. I didn’t realise you could actually mine tin,” he admitted.
Anne then offered another piece of historical information, explaining that the Ancient Greeks once referred to the British Isles as the Tin Islands.
She also pointed out that Cornwall has Stannary Courts, with the name deriving from the Latin word stannum, meaning tin.
“I didn’t know that,” Bradley said.
“Well, now you know,” Anne replied.
Bradley turns the embarrassment into a joke
Rather than allowing the exchange to become too serious, Bradley quickly turned his lack of knowledge into another joke.
“This show’s great, innit?” he remarked.
He then told viewers that the next time they were eating fish fingers, they should remember the lesson and think: “Well, I must go to school.”
While some viewers clearly found Bradley’s mistakes frustrating, others have long enjoyed the presenter’s willingness to laugh at himself.
His unexpected chemistry and history lesson with Anne provided another memorable moment from the long-running quiz show.
