Bradley Walsh Left in Shock as Anne Hegerty Is Stumped by a Simple Sausage Question on The Chase

Bradley Walsh was left utterly bewildered when one of The Chase’s most formidable quiz experts, Anne Hegerty, was unable to answer a surprisingly simple question about the word “sausage.”

The bizarre exchange unfolded after a question about meat substitutes asked contestants to identify the country that had banned the use of the word “sausage” for a vegetarian product.

Both Hegerty and the contestant gave the correct answer: France.

But Bradley wanted to know more.

Anne Hegerty stumped by Bradley’s follow-up

The host turned to Anne and asked: “Sausage means what?”

Hegerty, who was 60 at the time, initially answered by describing the food itself.

“A sausage is a tube of skin with mince meat in the middle,” she explained.

That wasn’t what Bradley was looking for.

“I know what it is,” he shot back. “Where does the word come from. Saucisson?”

Anne remained composed but admitted she did not know.

“Possibly. I really don’t know,” she replied.

That answer left Bradley visibly stunned.

“What is the point of you being a Chaser?”

Grabbing the edge of his console, Bradley exclaimed: “What is the point of you being a Chaser if you don’t know this stuff?”

He then slapped the console in disbelief, joking that this was precisely the kind of information Anne was supposed to know.

“This is the stuff you’re supposed to know, never mind how many billions of stars or whether the world’s circumference is the same as your neck,” he added.

The exchange became increasingly amusing as Bradley struggled to understand how Anne, known for her enormous breadth of general knowledge, could be defeated by the humble sausage.

He eventually collapsed onto the console in mock horror.

Still unable to provide the answer Bradley was after, Anne was asked one final time what they actually needed to know.

“What we need to know is — what is a sausage?” Bradley asked.

Anne simply conceded defeat.

“I don’t know. I’ll have to go and look it up,” she replied.

The unexpected moment provided a rare glimpse of the famously knowledgeable Chaser being caught without an answer, while Bradley Walsh appeared to find the whole situation almost too much to handle.
