The Chase viewers were left baffled during a recent episode after host Bradley Walsh accepted an answer that some fans argued was incomplete.
Bradley welcomed Patrick, Corrine, Mandy and Dom onto the ITV quiz show, where the four contestants faced Chaser Anne Hegerty, better known as “The Governess.”
But it was a decision during Corrine’s Cash Builder that sparked the biggest reaction from viewers at home.

Corrine Gives a Very Uncertain Answer
Patrick got the team off to a strong start, building up £5,000 before Anne caught him during his head-to-head.
Corrine then took her place and faced a question that left her struggling.
Bradley asked:
“Angels Way is a street in Stoke-on-Trent named after a song by which singer?”
Corrine hesitated before offering an uncertain response.
“Rob… Robbie… Robbie from Take That,” she said.
Although she had not given the singer’s full name, Bradley immediately accepted the answer.
“I’ll accept,” he confirmed.
He later explained his decision, making it clear that he understood Corrine was referring to Robbie Williams.
“Obviously when you said Robbie you were alluding to Robbie Williams,” Bradley explained.
“Absolutely,” Corrine replied.

Viewers Couldn’t Believe the Answer Was Accepted
That explanation did little to satisfy some viewers, who quickly took to social media to question why Corrine had been allowed to continue.
One fan wrote:
“#thechase Can’t believe they took that answer!”
Another compared the decision with an earlier moment on the show, writing that a contestant had previously been rejected for saying Helena Christensen’s name slightly incorrectly.
“Knocked back a guy for saying Helena Christensen slightly wrong but except Robbie from Take That. That’s The Chase for ya people,” they complained.
A third viewer argued that the answer would not normally have been accepted on another quiz programme.
“They wouldn’t have accepted ‘Robbie’ as a correct answer in any other TV quiz.”
Another simply asked:
“How did she get away with that Robbie answer?”
Other viewers joked that “Robbie ‘from Take That’ Williams” was apparently the contestant’s version of the singer’s full name.
Corrine Makes It Through to the Final
Despite the controversy, Corrine continued her Cash Builder and secured her place in the final, adding £5,000 to the team’s jackpot.
Mandy was the next contestant to face Anne, but the Chaser prevented her from joining the finalists.
Luckily for the team, Dom then stepped up and contributed another £4,000 to the prize fund.
That left Corrine and Dom to face Anne in the Final Chase.
Anne Hegerty Easily Defeats the Pair
The pair managed to answer 12 questions in the Final Chase, but it wasn’t enough to keep Anne at bay.
The Governess comfortably caught them, ending their hopes of taking the jackpot home.
Afterwards, Anne reflected on the team’s performance and suggested they had needed to set her a much higher target.
“I’m afraid you did need to set me a higher target. The damage was done when Postman Pat went out,” she quipped.
Bradley agreed that the team’s first contestant had played well.
“He was a good player,” the presenter remarked.
While Corrine’s “Robbie from Take That” answer may have been enough to get her through that particular question, it certainly didn’t escape the attention of eagle-eyed The Chase viewers.
For some fans, the decision was simply a reasonable interpretation of an obviously intended answer. For others, however, it raised questions about how strictly answers are judged from one contestant to the next.
