Bradley Walsh has witnessed plenty of unforgettable moments during his time hosting The Chase, but one bizarre outtake involving a nervous contestant left him struggling to keep a straight face.
The hilarious clip, originally filmed in 2015 and later shared by The Chase’s official YouTube account, has continued to entertain viewers years after it was recorded.
Contestant Janice had just survived a tense round against Chaser Mark Labbett and successfully answered the final question. After keeping her composure throughout the pressure-filled game, however, things took a very unexpected turn as she returned to her teammates.

The Chair Goes Down With a Bang
As Janice stepped back toward her team, she accidentally broke her chair.
The actual mishap happened off camera, but the loud crash immediately caught Walsh’s attention.
“Are you alright there? Just destroying the set,” the presenter joked.

Janice bent down to pick up the broken chair, seemingly determined to carry on as though nothing had happened.
Then came another awkward moment.
As she leaned over, viewers appeared to hear a noise that sounded remarkably like a fart.
Walsh immediately began fighting to contain his laughter.
The presenter could barely keep his composure as he dissolved into silent giggles, while Janice — visibly embarrassed — managed to regain her composure and return to her place.
Whether the sound was actually what it appeared to be was never confirmed. Some viewers were convinced it was genuine, while others suspected it may have been an accidental noise from the set or an edited sound effect.
Viewers Had Their Own Theories
The clip prompted plenty of debate among viewers, with some refusing to believe the infamous sound was real.
“That fart sounded false,” one person commented.
Another viewer questioned why moments like this would ever need to be edited out, arguing that the unexpected mishaps only made the show funnier.
Whatever actually caused the noise, Walsh’s reaction became the real highlight of the clip.
And it was certainly not the first time the The Chase host had been completely undone by something happening on the show.

Bradley Walsh vs. a Bird Expert
On another memorable occasion, Walsh struggled to maintain his composure while questioning a contestant with an impressive knowledge of birds.
The contestant was asked: “A lammergeier is a species of what bird?”
The answer was “vulture,” but the question quickly became secondary as Walsh became increasingly amused by the contestant’s enthusiasm and knowledge.
As the contestant explained his answer, Walsh’s face gradually turned red as he tried desperately to suppress his laughter.
Eventually, the host completely lost the battle.
Walsh erupted into hysterics before burying his head against the contestant’s shoulder. Still struggling to speak, he even mimicked the sound of the bird before finally asking the computer to reveal the correct answer.
It, unsurprisingly, confirmed the contestant’s answer: vulture.
The contestant then joked that he would have looked rather foolish if his answer had been wrong — a comment that sent Walsh into another fit of laughter.
The Chase’s Unpredictable Moments
From broken furniture and mysterious noises to bird experts who leave the host helpless with laughter, The Chase has produced plenty of moments that go far beyond the quiz itself.
For Walsh, who has become known for his infectious reactions, keeping a straight face can sometimes prove just as difficult as getting through the questions.
And years later, the chair-breaking incident remains one of the show’s more unusual outtakes — particularly because nobody ever definitively settled the mystery behind that unexpected sound.
