Anne Hegerty leaves The Chase viewers in stitches with hilarious ‘Fat Les’ joke aimed at Keith Allen

Fans loved Anne’s joke on the celebrity version of The Chase tonight

Anne Hegerty had The Chase viewers in hysterics after delivering an unexpectedly cheeky joke to celebrity contestant Keith Allen.

The Governess is usually known for intimidating contestants with her formidable general knowledge, but during a celebrity edition of the ITV quiz show, Anne showed off a much lighter side of her personality.

The hilarious moment came when she turned to Keith Allen and asked a question that had both the contestant and presenter Bradley Walsh struggling to keep their composure.

“Do you find that people shout Fat Les at you in the street? Because they do to me,” Anne asked.

Keith and Bradley were in hysterics at Anne’s one-liner

The Chase host Bradley couldn’t stop laughing

The reference was to Fat Les, the band formed by Keith Allen alongside artist Damien Hirst and musician Alex James.

The group became famous for the football anthem “Vindaloo”, which became a memorable part of the 1998 World Cup era.

Keith was left completely caught off guard by Anne’s comment and quickly dissolved into laughter.

Bradley Walsh was no better.

Once he had recovered, Keith actually applauded

The Chase presenter could barely contain himself as the joke landed, while Keith doubled over laughing at the unexpected comparison.

Once he finally recovered, Keith even applauded Anne for the perfectly timed gag.

And viewers at home were equally entertained.

One fan admitted they had nearly spat out their drink laughing, describing the joke as “bloody brilliant”.

Another called Anne’s Fat Les quip “the best thing we’ve ever heard on TV” and praised her as a legend.

A third viewer said the gag had been delivered perfectly, while another simply described the exchange as “hilarious”.

The celebrity episode featured Keith competing alongside Stacey Solomon, Louise Minchin and Matt Allwright, with Anne taking on her familiar role as The Governess.

But the joke also highlighted just how much Anne’s public image had changed following her appearance on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!

The Chaser had once been the person viewers loved to see defeated.

Now, however, many fans found themselves doing something rather unexpected — rooting for Anne herself.

One viewer admitted that they now felt genuinely bad whenever a team managed to beat her on The Chase.

Another joked that they used to celebrate whenever contestants defeated Anne, but now found themselves shouting at the television whenever someone threatened to knock “my Anne” out of the game.

For a Chaser whose job is to stop contestants from winning money, Anne had somehow managed to become one of the show’s most beloved personalities.

And thanks to one perfectly timed Fat Les joke, she proved once again that there is much more to The Governess than terrifying questions and intimidating stares.
