Undercover Officer Testifies in Dean Penney Murder Trial Over “Mr. Big” Operation
Another undercover police officer has testified in the murder trial of Dean Penney, who is accused in the death of his estranged wife, Jennifer Hillier-Penney.
The testimony focused on the so-called “Mr. Big” operation, an undercover police technique used in serious criminal investigations in Canada. In this type of operation, officers pose as members of a fake criminal organization in an attempt to gain a suspect’s trust and gather information.
Jennifer Hillier-Penney disappeared in Newfoundland and Labrador in 2016. Her body has never been found, but investigators believe she was killed. Dean Penney was later charged with first-degree murder.
In court, the undercover officer described parts of the police operation and how investigators interacted with Penney during the investigation.
