There is an upper echelon of musicians within the industry who have reached another level of stardom. People who seem to transcend normal artistry and become idols for people. These people can often cause a radical fandom that becomes an event in itself. Off the top of my head, people like Michael Jacksonand Taylor Swift come to mind, but the true pioneers of the fever pitch fanbase are The Beatles.

It’s hard to sustain a legendary fanbase for your entire career, but Paul McCartneyhas certainly done that. When Beatlemania swept America in the ’60s, McCartney was practically mythologized right off the bat. As the late Ozzy Osbourne used to say, “The Beatles turned a black and white world into color.”

This has carried on into today. With the access of the internet and the continued legend of The Beatles sustaining in popular culture today, there is a whole new generation of fans with the same obsession the band had surrounding them when they first began. This leads to some repeated themes from the crowd at some of McCartney’s shows.

“You’re so sexy!!” this fan cried out to McCartney at one of his performances. The crowd clearly loves it, all cheering and laughing at the vintage comment. McCartney is clearly amused, and according to this fan he said “uh-oh!”

The comments were filled with fomo from fans of all ages.

“I know he felt so good hearing the crowd cheer after that!”

“I WOULD DIE, OMG!!”

“How does it feel to live my dream? ”

Despite not being as loud and sweeping as before, Beatlemania is alive and well around the world, ready to strike at any moment.
