Seeking Persephone Confirmed for Seasons 2 and 3 as the Lancaster Family’s Romantic Story Expands

The story of Seeking Persephone is officially continuing, but Adam Boyce and Persephone Lancaster will no longer be the sole focus.

Following the four-part Regency romance’s debut earlier this year, author Sarah M. Eden and Duke of Kielder actor Jake Stormoen have confirmed that two additional seasons are moving forward. Season 2 will adapt Courting Miss Lancaster, while Season 3 will bring Romancing Daphne to the screen.

The announcement means viewers will return to the Lancaster family, but each new chapter will shift attention toward another sister and a very different romantic dilemma.

Stormoen is also expected to remain part of the story as the Duke, meaning Adam’s role in the Lancaster family will continue even after his central romance with Persephone reaches its resolution.

From an independent Regency adaptation to a three-season story

Seeking Persephone is based on Sarah M. Eden’s Lancaster Family novels and follows Persephone Lancaster, whose family is facing financial ruin when she receives an unexpected marriage proposal from Adam Boyce, the reclusive and intimidating Duke of Kielder.

Persephone initially refuses before reconsidering what the marriage could mean for her family. What begins as a practical arrangement gradually develops into an emotional relationship between two people with dramatically different personalities.

Ryann Bailey stars as Persephone opposite Jake Stormoen as Adam, with Toby-Alexander Smith playing Harry Windover and Catherine Hannay portraying Athena Lancaster.

The adaptation was directed by John Lyde, while Eden adapted her own novel for the screen. The project was developed independently, with a relatively small production team working in Utah and England.

The first season consists of four episodes and has attracted significant attention among viewers of period romance. IMDb currently lists the series at 7.6/10 from roughly 4,900 ratings.

Its success has now opened the door for the remaining Lancaster siblings to move into the spotlight.

Season 2 shifts the story to Athena Lancaster

The biggest change comes with Season 2.

Rather than attempting to extend Adam and Persephone’s romance into another season as the primary storyline, the series will follow the structure of Eden’s novels and turn to Persephone’s younger sister Athena.

Season 2 will adapt Courting Miss Lancaster, the second Lancaster Family novel.

At the center of the story are Athena and Harry Windover.

Harry has feelings for Athena but believes his lack of wealth makes him an unsuitable prospect for a woman of her social position. His situation becomes considerably more complicated when the Duke of Kielder asks him to help Athena find an appropriate husband.

That leaves Harry helping the woman he loves search for somebody else.

Instead of openly competing for Athena himself, Harry develops another strategy: steering her toward potential suitors who are unlikely to impress her.

The arrangement creates a mixture of romantic tension, humor and emotional conflict, particularly because Athena sees Harry as someone she can trust while remaining unaware of everything motivating his behavior.

Catherine Hannay is expected to return as Athena, while Toby-Alexander Smith is expected back as Harry. Stormoen’s involvement in the renewal announcement also confirms that viewers have not seen the last of the Duke of Kielder.

Adam Boyce remains connected to the new romance

Although Season 2 belongs primarily to Athena and Harry, Adam remains important because of his position within the Lancaster family.

His marriage to Persephone has transformed him from an outsider into Athena’s brother-in-law and guardian, placing him directly inside the decisions surrounding her future.

That provides a natural way for the Duke to remain involved without simply repeating the emotional arc viewers already watched between Adam and Persephone.

Stormoen confirmed during the announcement that both the Lancasters and the Duke still have more story ahead.

Ryann Bailey’s Persephone could also remain connected to the expanding family story, although complete casting details for the new seasons have not yet been announced.

Season 3 gives Daphne Lancaster her turn

The third season will again change its romantic leads.

Eden confirmed that Season 3 will adapt Romancing Daphne, the third novel in the Lancaster Family sequence.

This time, Daphne Lancaster moves to the center.

Compared with her sisters, Daphne is quieter and more self-conscious as she approaches her London Season. She struggles with her confidence and worries that she does not possess the social ease or beauty she sees in those around her.

Her romantic storyline involves James Tilburn, a man whose renewed attention initially offers Daphne hope.

But their developing relationship becomes complicated by questions of motivation, money and trust, turning Daphne’s story into a different kind of romance from either Persephone’s marriage of convenience or Athena’s predicament with Harry.

The anthology-like structure therefore allows each season to retain the same Lancaster family world while exploring a new relationship.

Sarah M. Eden will continue adapting her own books

One of the most significant pieces of the renewal announcement is that Eden will continue writing the screen adaptations herself.

She adapted Seeking Persephone and has confirmed that she had the opportunity to write the adaptations of both Courting Miss Lancaster and Romancing Daphne.

That keeps the television versions unusually close to the author who created the original characters and relationships.

Eden has said that continuing not only for a second season but also a third involves numerous production elements that still need to come together. She also indicated that fans will continue receiving updates as development progresses.

When will Seasons 2 and 3 arrive?

For now, that remains the biggest unanswered question.

No premiere date has been announced for either season, and Eden has not provided a confirmed timetable for filming or release.

That distinction is important: Seasons 2 and 3 are moving forward, but reports claiming specific release dates would currently be premature.

What has been confirmed is the source material and direction of the next two chapters.

Season 2 is Courting Miss Lancaster.

Season 3 is Romancing Daphne.

And the Duke of Kielder will remain connected to the expanding Lancaster story.

The Lancaster Family has even more stories available

The television adaptation could potentially continue beyond the already announced third season, although no additional seasons have been confirmed.

Eden’s Lancaster Family collection continues beyond the first three novels with Loving Lieutenant Lancaster and Charming Artemis, while the wider series also includes Christmas at Falstone Castle.

For now, however, the immediate future is clear.

Adam and Persephone opened the door to this Regency world, but Athena and Harry are positioned to inherit the central romance next. After them, Daphne will receive a season of her own.

Rather than stretching one love story indefinitely, Seeking Persephone is becoming something larger: an interconnected Lancaster family romance in which familiar characters can remain while a different couple steps into the spotlight each season.
