ITV The Chase contestant issues apology after making huge decision
Harry and Rachel tested their luck against The Sinnerman with the chance to win £100,000
One contestant on The Chase said “sorry” after she made a huge decision on the ITV quiz show. In the most recent instalment, Rachel, Patricia, Alex and Harry made up the team of four fresh contestants who were eager to test their general knowledge skills against one of the UK’s best quizzers.
Harry from Lincoln was first up to take on The Chaser, who in this case was Paul Sinha aka The Sinnerman. He gave a great performance in the Cash Builder as he accumulated £6,000.
The lucky streak continued as he went up against The Sinnerman and managed to outrun The Chaser. Harry returned to his teammates and kickstarted the shared cash prize pot.
Alex from Leicester was next up and hoped to follow in Harry’s successful footsteps. But his nerves seemed to get the best of him in the quick-fire question round, which saw the contestant achieve just two correct answers.

The Chaser tried to convince Alex to take the lower offer of £1,000, to give him more of a chance to make it through to the final. However, the player didn’t listen to the advice and decided to play for what he had earned.
Bradley Walsh said it was not a good idea to try and “redeem himself.” It seemed the ITV host was right as Alex tested his luck for £2,000 but failed to outrun The Chaser.
He was caught by The Sinnerman and left the quiz show empty-handed. He said: “I should’ve heeded the advice.” Bradley Walsh added: “That’s the thing about this show, people think it’s all about asking questions, it’s very, very tactical.”
Patricia from Hitchin was next up to test her general knowledge skills against The Sinnerman. She bagged £6,000 in her Cash Builder round but soon heard Bradley Walsh’s dreaded words: “You have been caught and for you the chase is over.”
Finally, Rachel from Northamptonshire shocked the quiz host when she decided to play for the huge £94,000 offer, despite her fellow contestant’s attempts of telling her to play it safe. Harry told her: “There’s no way you should take £94,000.” He added: “It’s just there to tempt you.”
But Rachel had already made her decision as she revealed: “I’m gonna have to do it, I’m gonna have to go for £94,000. Sorry Harry.” Bradley Walsh said her attitude was “brilliant” as he said: “I wish more people would do that I think it’s great.”
Despite her initial doubt, Rachel managed to secure her spot in the final chase and increased the prize pot to a staggering £100,000. Taking to social media, one viewer said: “Wow!”
More added to the conversation on X: “Very well done Rachel, good luck”, “Nice to see a contestant go for the high offer and achieve it” and “Brilliant Rachel, and Harry wanted her to go low. I really hope they win.”
In the end, Rachel and Harry tested their general knowledge skills against The Chaser one final time in a bid to win £100,000. However, their time on the quiz show came to an unfortunate end when The Sinnerman caught their score with 16 seconds remaining.
The two quizzers said their goodbyes and went home empty-handed.
The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV1 and ITVX
