Shaun Wallace Makes The Chase History With Enormous £103,000 Offer to Sarah Millican

Shaun Wallace stunned the studio during a celebrity edition of The Chase when he put an extraordinary £103,000 on the table for comedian Sarah Millican — the biggest offer The Dark Destroyer said he had ever made on the celebrity version of the show.

The episode featured Millican alongside dog trainer Graeme Hall, space scientist Margaret Aderin-Pocock and TV presenter Ortis Deley, with the celebrities attempting to win money for charity.

Millican began strongly, earning an impressive £7,000 during her Cash Builder.

But when she reached the table to face Shaun, the stakes suddenly became much higher.

Even Shaun acknowledged how unusual the figure was, revealing that it was the largest offer he had ever personally made on The Celebrity Chase.

Despite the enormous potential prize, Millican decided not to gamble.

Instead, she accepted the £3,000 lower offer, explaining that her priority was making it safely back to her teammates for the Final Chase.

The decision meant viewers never got to discover whether she could have pulled off Shaun’s historic £103,000 challenge.

Celebrity Team Builds a £100,000 Prize Fund

Millican ultimately made it back to the team, and the celebrities collectively accumulated an enormous £100,000 for the Final Chase.

However, attention soon shifted from Shaun’s record-breaking offer to Millican’s performance during the final.

Some viewers became frustrated by how frequently the comedian passed on questions rather than attempting an answer.

Several watching at home argued that even a guess might have helped, while others complained that passing quickly could prevent teammates from having enough time to respond.

Unfortunately for the celebrities, their £100,000 prize fund ultimately slipped away.

The team failed to defeat Shaun and therefore left without the charity jackpot.

Not the Biggest Offer in The Chase History

Although £103,000 represented Shaun Wallace’s biggest-ever offer on the celebrity edition at the time, it was not the largest high offer ever seen on The Chase.

That distinction belonged to Jenny Ryan, The Vixen, who offered Blue singer Duncan James £139,000 in November 2017.

Meanwhile, one of the programme’s biggest celebrity victories came in 2018, when Rachel Riley and Kirsty Gallacher defeated Shaun to secure £160,000 for Soccer Aid.

For this particular team, however, the episode will be remembered for the moment Shaun placed £103,000 in front of Sarah Millican — only for the comedian to turn down the gamble and choose the safer route back to her teammates.
