Moment Rangers fan trolled on The Chase by fellow contestant as Bradley Walsh says ‘I suspect he’s a Celtic fan’
Rangers was a topic of discussion throughout the episode
A CONTESTANT on The Chase was trolled by one of his team-mates in the latest episode of the hit ITV game show after revealing he was a Rangers supporter.
Andy, a 50-year-old partnership accounts assistant from Glasgow, expressed his love for the Ibrox club when host Bradley Walsh asked what he enjoyed doing in his spare time.
Before taking on his cash builder, Andy told Bradley that he was a big sports fan, particularly of football.
Walsh, a big football fan himself, is no stranger to asking the familiar Glasgow question: Rangers or Celtic?
The 65-year-old presenter asked: “Blue or Hoops?”
“Blue,” Andy replied without hesitation, before giving Walsh a lesson on the Scottish lower leagues.
Unfamiliar with the East Renfrewshire club, Walsh asked which league they played in.
Andy explained: “They’re the equivalent of the seventh tier in English football — just below the Vauxhall Conference.”
Andy responded: “They are the equivalent of the seventh tier in English football. The league below the Vauxhall Conference.”
Arthurlie are now in the sixth tier of the Scottish football pyramid – West of Scotland Premier Division – after winning the First Division last season.
When asked how he’d spend his winnings, Andy revealed a slight difference of opinion at home.
“I would like to get a hospitality box at Ibrox for the Blues, but my wife has said we’ll probably go for a new kitchen first.
“The last time I checked they were around £3000.”
Andy scored seven correct answers in his cash builder, earning £7,000 before facing chaser Paul Sinha.
He was given the usual three options: stick with £7,000, play it safe with -£4,000, or take a risk for £77,000.
With the team reduced to three after Genevieve was caught by the Chaser, Andy turned to his teammates Alan and Kathy — who had already secured £13,000 between them —for advice.
Both suggested he stick with the £7,000.
However, Alan from London couldn’t resist a cheeky swipe at Andy’s beloved Rangers in the process.
“Never mind a box at Rangers,” he joked. “You could buy Rangers for £77,000.”
Andy laughed: “Probably”
The banter drew a quick response from Sinha, who shouted: “Fighting talk!”
As Andy and Walsh then turned around to begin the round, the presenter said: “I have a sneaky suspicion he’s a Hoops fan.”
As Andy prepared for his round, Walsh quipped: “I have a sneaky suspicion he’s a Hoops fan.”
Andy went on to beat the Chaser and secured his £7,000 spot in the final. Together, the trio triumphed in the Final Chase, defeating the Chaser 19–17.
