The Simple Trick Hidden Inside the Numbers

Despite its intimidating appearance, the solution depended on two basic details about each month.

“August” contains six letters and is the eighth month of the year. Multiplying six by eight produces 48.

Combining those numbers gives:

6 – 8 – 48 = 6848.

The same logic explains the earlier clues. January contains seven letters and is month one, producing 7, 1 and 7. March contains five letters and is month three, with 5 × 3 producing 15. June contains four letters, is month six, and 4 × 6 produces 24.

Michael managed to identify that hidden rule under the pressure of the countdown — and his final answer turned one of the show’s toughest-looking puzzles into a $100,000 winning moment.
