Harry and Meghan facing huge £27k a month bill for mansion they're not even living in

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will reportedly continue to pay for their Montecito mansion despite their recent move to the UK. The couple and their two children arrived back in Britain earlier this week, after the shock decision to return was only revealed days before.
It is understood that the couple will keep their nine-bedroom home in the US, with questions now arising about the bills and taxes. They are also known to have a home in Portugal.
Their Montecito home, known as the Chateau of Riven Rock, lies on seven acres and boasts a swimming pool, tennis courts, and a small cinema.

According to Santa Barbara County records, the Sussexes’ company, Rockbridge LLC, bought the 7.38-acre estate for £10.81million [$14.65m] in June 2020.
It has been reported that the company took out a £7.03million [$9.52m] loan from City National Bank, with an adjustable-rate mortgage starting at 2.49 percent.
Based on the 30-year term at the rate, it has now been reported that Harry and Meghan would be subject to a monthly repayment of £27,729 [$37,566], amounting to £332,749 [$450,792] per year.
In addition to the mortgage, the New York Post previously reported that the couple paid a property tax bill of £110,476 [$149,668] in 2025.

The couple arrived at Birmingham airport around lunchtime on Wednesday, with their children.
The Sun previously revealed that the couple’s length of stay is being referred to as being for “an extended period” in the present moment.
Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet – now aged seven and five – have also been enrolled in a school, with the young royals set to start there next week.
