Confident she’d worked out the answer, the contestant even explained her reasoning before locking it in. But when the correct answer was revealed, the studio fell awkwardly silent as she realized she’d just missed a question from her own subject.

THE CHASE fans were left in hysterics during this afternoon’s episode after a science teacher was given the boot for getting a science question wrong.

The contestant was asked: “A ‘magnetar’ is a greatly magnetic type of what heavenly body?”

She had three options to choose from, with them being “planet”, “comet” or “star”.

Opting for planet, she said: “I’ve got to get this right, I’m a science teacher. This is going to be so embarrassing if I get this wrong.”

She added: “I’m going off the iron core. A lot of planets have iron cores.”

The answer was in fact “star” and the lady cringed when she realised she had got the question wrong.

An entertained audience took to Twitter to voice their surprise at the teacher getting the question wrong.

One person tweeted: “How embarrassing to go out on a science question (science teacher) #TheChase.”

Another wrote: “I would have thought that question would have been easy for a science teacher? #TheChase.”

And another fan commented: “Shame. Science teacher got the science question wrong even though she was so sure?”
