Bradley Walsh is no stranger to losing his composure on The Chase, but a simple conversation with McFly star Danny Jones produced one particularly memorable misunderstanding.
During a celebrity edition of the ITV quiz show in aid of Soccer Aid, Walsh was chatting with Jones about his music career when he asked what his favourite McFly song was.
Jones gave him a straightforward answer: “Obviously.”
The problem was that Walsh didn’t realize “Obviously” was actually the name of the song.
His confused response — “Obviously, what?” — immediately sent Jones and the studio audience into laughter. It took several seconds before Walsh understood what had happened, at which point he burst out laughing himself and walked away from his position.

The episode brought together Jones, journalist Martin Bell, Sky News presenter Sarah-Jane Mee and actor Michael Sheen, with the celebrities attempting to win money for Soccer Aid for UNICEF.
Standing between them and the prize fund was Mark Labbett, better known to viewers as The Beast. The special originally aired on June 14, 2019, before later returning to television as a repeat.
Before Jones began his attempt at the quiz, Walsh spoke to him about his previous involvement with Soccer Aid and his career with McFly.
The conversation eventually turned to the origins of the band’s name.
Jones explained that the group were big fans of Back to the Future and had taken inspiration from the movie’s central character, Marty McFly.
That revelation surprised Walsh, who continued asking the musician about the band.
Then came the question that caused all the trouble.

Walsh asked Jones to name his favourite song that McFly had released.
After considering his options, Jones settled on “Obviously,” one of the band’s hit tracks.
Walsh apparently interpreted the word as part of Jones’ sentence rather than the title of a song.
“Obviously, what?” the host replied.
Jones immediately began laughing as the studio audience reacted to the misunderstanding.
For a few seconds, Walsh appeared puzzled by what everyone found so funny. Then the realization finally hit him: Jones had already answered his question.
The mistake proved too much for the presenter, who broke into laughter and walked away from his spotlight toward Jones. The pair shared a quick hug as Walsh attempted to recover from the mix-up.

Danny’s Chase ends early

Jones became the first member of the celebrity team to be caught and eliminated.
Martin Bell followed and managed to bring £500 into the prize fund, while Sarah-Jane Mee also survived her head-to-head encounter.
Michael Sheen then delivered another strong contribution, leaving the surviving trio with an imposing £72,500 to play for in the Final Chase.
£72,500 comes down to the Final Chase
With Jones already eliminated, Bell, Mee and Sheen took their places in the Final Chase and produced an impressive target of 21.
That left Labbett needing a formidable performance to deny them the charity jackpot.
The Beast managed it.
He reached their target with just 13 seconds remaining, bringing the celebrities’ pursuit of the £72,500 prize to an end.
According to contemporary coverage of the episode, each celebrity was still awarded £1,000 for their respective charities following the defeat.

While Walsh and Jones’ misunderstanding provided a comic moment, reaction to the wider episode was less universally positive.
