BRADLEY WALSH THOUGHT HE’D SEEN EVERY TYPE OF CONTESTANT ON THE CHASE — UNTIL DOLORES STARTED TALKING TO HERSELF THROUGH THE GAME, THEN ACTUALLY BEAT THE BEAST AND CELEBRATED HER OWN SUCCESS OUT LOUD.

Bradley Walsh struggled to keep control of The Chase after one particularly cheerful contestant spent so much of her appearance talking to herself that the host joked there seemed to be an extra person on the team.

Dolores, a 54-year-old nursery nurse from London, arrived determined to enjoy herself as she faced Mark “The Beast” Labbett.

Her infectious personality quickly became one of the highlights of the episode.

Dolores was accustomed to looking after babies and toddlers in her day job, but taking on one of television’s toughest quizzers was a very different challenge.

Even she appeared surprised by her own success.

After managing to escape Mark and secure her place in the Final Chase, Dolores made her way back toward the team and began celebrating out loud, including an enthusiastic declaration of “Female power!” to fellow contestant Arlene.

Bradley immediately picked up on her habit of providing her own running commentary.

He joked that Dolores had been speaking to herself throughout the programme and suggested there appeared to be more people on the team than were actually standing behind the desk.

Dolores was completely unfazed, explaining that her family and friends were already accustomed to the habit.

Her constant surprise whenever she answered correctly only added to Bradley’s amusement.

Rather than becoming frustrated by the unusual running commentary, the presenter appeared increasingly entertained by Dolores and eventually described her as “absolutely delightful.”

Viewers watching at home reacted similarly, with several singling Dolores out as one of the funniest parts of the episode.

Some admitted they would normally be irritated by a contestant choosing a lower offer, but Dolores’ personality made it difficult for them to be annoyed.

Others simply enjoyed watching her repeatedly talk herself through the experience and appear genuinely amazed whenever things went her way.

The Final Chase Doesn’t Go Their Way

Dolores and Arlene ultimately reached the Final Chase together, but their run ended when Mark caught them with one minute and 10 seconds remaining.

There was no big cash victory at the end.

Yet Dolores still managed to make the episode memorable for an entirely different reason.

Her habit of talking to herself, celebrating her own answers and appearing astonished by her own success had Bradley in fits of laughter — turning an otherwise unsuccessful Final Chase into one of the show’s more charmingly chaotic contestant moments.
