Anne Hegerty Leaves Bradley Walsh Stunned With Brutal Chicken Joke on The Chase

Anne Hegerty left Bradley Walsh momentarily horrified during a memorable episode of The Chase after turning one contestant’s wholesome plans for his winnings into a joke that the host felt went a little too far for teatime television.
The exchange began when 34-year-old Jack, from Oxfordshire, explained that he hoped to use any money he won to build a new hen house for his six rescued battery hens.
It sounded like an innocent ambition — until The Governess revealed she had a very different idea about where chickens belonged.
Anne Takes Aim at Jack’s Chickens

“You want somewhere to put your chickens?” Anne began, before adding: “Well there’s only one place a chicken should be and that is in a crispy crumb coating.”
Jack laughed, but Bradley immediately shook his head at the remark.

When Anne asked whether he disliked chicken, Bradley explained that it was the timing of the joke that bothered him.
“Yeah I get it but tea time in front of the kids?” he replied.
Anne was not about to retreat.
“That’s what they’re having for tea,” she shot back.
She then looked directly into the camera and cheerfully said: “Hello kids.”
Bradley Tries to Shut It Down — But Anne Keeps Going

Bradley attempted to rescue the situation by declaring that the children watching would instead be eating “fish fingers and petit pois.”
That only handed Anne another opportunity.
After she suggested there were also chicken fingers, Bradley raised his hands like claws and pointed out: “Chickens don’t have fingers — they have feet.”
Anne immediately spotted the flaw in his argument.
“Brad, I hate to break it to you, but I’m pretty sure fish don’t have fingers either.”
With little left to say, Bradley finally ended the exchange and told Anne to put some money on the table.
Jack Gets His Revenge — For a While

Jack ultimately managed to beat The Governess in his individual chase and returned safely to his teammates with his money intact.
However, Anne eventually had the final word. The team was caught during the Final Chase, meaning they left without the prize fund.

Turning to look directly at the camera, Anne said: “Hello kids.”
Hitting back, Brad shouted: “They’re having fish fingers and petit pois.”
“I’m pretty sure there are chicken fingers,” claimed Anne as she continued the spat.

Still, it was the unexpected argument over Jack’s rescued chickens — and Anne’s perfectly timed comeback to Bradley — that produced one of the episode’s most memorable exchanges.
